Which Club Is Going To Win The Premiership This Season?

wow now that was close, both games infact!

i have never seen Man U, or any team for that matter, score 3 goals in the FIRST 6 MINS!!! that was just amazing! an all 3 were great goals.

did see the boro game, but was keepin an eye on the score, i so thought West Brom were gna win that, but alas penalties once again for boro.

so its Boro v Man U, hmm though game i think, gna be played on March 10th, so we'll see!

Tonyboy: great post..|

Never knew live FACup matches could be watched in California. Must be because of all those rich Brit popstars/actors who live there.;)

Despite last nite's result, you should be proud of Reading. Steve Coppell will definitely win the "Manager of the Season" Award for what he has achieved with a small club with a limited budget.:=D: :=D: :=D:

Spurs play Reading at WHL on Sunday 01/04/07( April Fools Day in the UK!!!) which will be screened live on Sky Sports. Obviously the best team will win.

Folks just got to realize that while soccer is like the number 4 or 5 team sport to follow over here, there's still 300+ million people and a shitload of soccer fanatic immigrants so it's a good-sized market.
There's Fox Soccer Channel in the US. For the EPL (an acronym that supposedly is American only and not used in the UK - true?) - we get 3 games on Saturday, one on Sunday and assorted FA cup and midweek games. These start at 7am or so it's sometimes real tough to catch after a long Fri or Sat night.](*,) Also get Serie A and Argentine games too.

Yeah, I am proud. Shit way to start but the boys kept fighting. It was a great game and it's just so fun to watch us play ManU - 4th time this year and all good games from Reading's perspective.;)

yea hav to say reading did put up a good fight, well, after the first 6mins anyway lol an ooooooo Blackburn beat Arsenal and knocked them out the FA Cup hehe

well for me this has to be the BIGGEST weekend in the premiership this season. On sat afternoon, Man U go to arch rivals Liverpool with a 9pt lead over Chelsea who dont play until the evening, so if Man U win they will go 12pts clear at the top before Chelsea play, who will still have 2games in hand still have to play.

Imo, this is a must win game for Man U, if they win this then they are sure to have the title in the bag, it will definately put them in a great position over Chelsea.

Chelsea play Portsmouth, who lately have not been the same team as they were at the start of the season, i really do hope they put up a fight against Chelsea tomorrow, but i just see Chelsea walking away with this one.

Best possible outcome, Man U win and Chelsea draw/lose.

It's remarkable to see a team who, after getting such punishment from Man Utd of all teams, fight back and nearly pull it back out of Ferguson's grasp. :=D: :=D: :=D:

I've not heard the term EPL - I assume you mean English Premier League - we just call it the premiership, or the premier league. Either of which can have FA in front of it, to signify that it's English.

I like Serie A, but I don't catch the games often. Some goals scored over there... wow. They seem to score thirty yard screamers every other minute... Of course, I only get to see highlights.

I'll sometimes watch Spanish games, and UEFA/Champions League matches (Hell, Boro got to the final of the UEFA last year, it holds fond memories)

C'mon Boro, we can beat the Geordies tomorrow! Bring them on!

And Man Utd should be feeling a little worried. We're no pushovers. Yakubu is the third top scorer in the premiership (I think, since he was a couple of days ago), and Viduka can't be too far behind, because he's scoring like crazy. And Woodgate and Pogatetz on form are very difficult to outsmart.

And of course, we're out for revenge ;) We didn't deserve to lose last time we met up, but lose we did.

YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
we won!!! wooooooooooooooooooo

sorry lol for those of u who think i should calm down, its just that you dont understand what it means to beat Liverpool at their own ground Anfield.

im sooooo happy, i still have a huge grin on my face hehe and we've done the double over them this season. This puts us 9pts clear at the top as Chelsea won 2-0 against Portsmouth, although Chelsea still have a game in hand, which they still need to win, so we'll see hehe

Shame about the north east derby, goalless draw.

Oldies may not be too happy with a 2-1 loss at Arsenal.

Well, I guess you might have to back ManUtd to win the Premeirship after today's result at Anfield. Even AF admitted they were lucky to steal a winner in the dying minutes.

Chelsea have just won at Portsmouth, and still have a game in hand. But it's unlikely they can catch ManUtd.

But, it's a funny old game...

Can live with it - Arsenal was the only team that made Reading look foolish all season and at least we gave them a bit of a game this time. Only bummer is that a team now has a double over Reading - even ManU and Chelsea couldn't do that.

Congrats winning at Liverpool - my best bud in the UK is a liverpool supporter so he must be quite down. And what a game today - fuck I would hate to be a west ham supporter.

A 2-1 defeat for Spurs at WHam last May - when most of the Spurs squad were suffering from the effects of food poisoning - let Arsenal take a Champions League place away from Spurs.:(

So yesterday's enthralling game, with its drama, passion, tears, meant a lot to both sides.

And notice: no players fighting with each other, no red cards, no managers abusing the officials, no members of the Olympic Portuguese diving team, no crowd trouble, no AF pointing at his Disney watch... just exciting honest football.

If only all games in the Premiership could be as exciting and honest as this.

pmsl @ disney watch, well funny

i cudnt believe spurs came away with the win, that was so good to come back from 2 nil down to tie it at 2-2, an then to score two goals to win it after West Ham score with 5mins of normal time left on the clock, that was truly amazing.

theres been so much goin on about wether Cheslea can overtake Man U still to win the title, or if Man U can do enough to win it etc etc, but its really getting tense at the bottom of the table too. I really think West Ham and Watford will defo get relegated, but its just a question of who will the 3rd team be, i think just mite be Charlton, but may not be decided til quite late. theres only 3pts that seperate 5 teams just above the relegation zone which means anything can still happen.

guess we'll just have to wait an see, i kinda want Charlton to go down, coz then i have a feeling that Darren Bent will be leaving in the summer, and im hoping that Man U will get him if not Torres, coz hes a class player. I can just see it, Rooney and Bent upfront, hmm future England Strike partnership me thinks.

I'll accept a 0-0 away to Newcastle, however, boring the game sounded. We beat them at home, so we've taken 4 points from our only real local rivals in the division - Leeds and Sunderland are both in the Championship. Or, to sound even better, they've taken 1 out of 6 from us. Muahahaha...
So yeah, all's well at Boro right now. Through to what is all set to be an amazing game against Man Utd in the FA cup, where all the pressure's on them, we're 12th in the division (Considering we hired someone who'd never managed before, I'd have taken anything better than relegation), and there's rumours that we're after Roque Santa Cruz. Not sure why, with Gook, Viduka, and Yakubu... it makes me worried that he's expecting to lose Viduka, his contract is going. I love Vid, he's a genius...

We lost my previous favourite player at the start of the season, too :( Franck Queudrue... to Fulham, of all teams! It's lucky that Andrew Taylor is playing well there because Pogatetz and Arca - both of whom were bought as left backs - have both assumed new positions. Arca is a midfielder, and looking sublime there, and Pogatetz has become an unmovable rock in our central defence.

By the way, judging on form since New Years, Boro would actually be 4th, apparently. :) So it's going pretty smoothly.

So, from your own perspective, how're each of your teams doing? We can see positions in tables and stuff, but really only a fan can follow a team's progress properly... so how're you doing?

Well it's clear for Reading that they have exceeded all expectations.

The very simple formula they've followed - beat up on the bottom ten (11W 1D 4L), and get a few points against the top 10 (2W 3D 8L). Mathematically, can't understand how that gets you 7th, but it works.

Goes to show that the bottom 10 premiership teams aren't much different than the top 10 championship teams IMO, and Reading has basically the same team as last year when they cleaned up against the championship. I think that's what's important - they didn't just win last year, they absolutely dominated - set a point record.

With survival a certainty, I think most thoughts from this point forward should be toward next season - getting the long-term contract players they signed in January to play with the first team, getting the recovered injured back playing in real games, getting Sidwell signed. FA cup is done, if Europe happens it happens but it shouldn't dictate any decision.

I'm pretty happy with Spurs' performance so far this season. I think Spurs have consolidated their position as one of the "big" clubs, not just in the the UK, but in the wider world.

I'm a great believer in the "bums on seats" statistic. Virtually every game at WHL this season - in the Premiership, FACup, UEFA Cup, and Carling Cup - has seen a capacity crowd of 35,000+. (The lowest Premiership attendance was 34,000+ v Jacobim's 'Boro;) )

So the fan base is there. Spurs need to make themselves attractive to top players, and they can only do that by winning trophies. Otherwise players such as Berbatov, Dawson, King, and Lennon will follow Carrick's example, and move to clubs where major trophies can be won.

Having said that, I would still support Spurs, even if they ended up where the once mighty Leeds are now: bottom of the Championship!

No Premiership games this w/end. The FACup takes centre stage.

Boro' take on ManUtd at the Riverside on Saturday evening. Boro' have never won the FACup. They reached the final in 1997, the only time they have done so, but were beaten by - guess who? - Chelsea. If Boro can beat ManUtd tomorrow.....|

The other three games are on Sunday 11/03/07, with Chelsea v Spurs the game of the day. With Cech back and Drogba in peak form Chelsea are favourites to win. But Spurs are on a roll after some great recent results. And there are a lot of Londoners who would love to see a Spurs' win.

Chelsea, because of their unlimited financial resources, are viewed by most Londoners as having bought success rather than earning it.

Incidentally, in 1997 we were managed by Man Utd's ex-captain.

In which case, they're correct. Although it's not just most Londoners, it's most non-Chelsea fans.

I'm supporting Spurs - I want Chelsea out of the competition. The less silverware for Jose, the better.

COME ON MAN U!!! lol
i want Spurs, Blackburn and Watford to win.

We'll they're never going to do the treble cause they aint good enough for that, guess they could always just throw some more money at it if they wanted to.

i really dont want them to win the champions league, thats the main one, hopefully we have the leage all tied up so they cant win that.

guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Half time, Man Utd's general dominance hasn't paid off enough, since the tie is finely poised at 1-1. Good performance by Utd, but Middlesbrough have shown flashes of what we can do, and are certainly keeping Man Utd on their toes.

What a finish, by both scorers! Rooney's was very good, pure accuracy, but Cattermole's shows technique I didn't have any idea he had. Anyways, kick off, so see ya at the end! ;)
