Which Club Is Going To Win The Premiership

Re: Which Club Is Going To Win The Premiership This Season?

Well the boys at Reading need to avoid this dreaded second-season syndrome that every pundit is droning on and on about.

My bet is that they play the same way as they did last year (attacking football, afraid of no one not even the Great One) and finish somewhere mid-table.

And....we get our first 2 games at ManU and home to Chelsea. Should be fun - good luck to all your teams - well, all but one.

Re: Which Club Is Going To Win The Premiership This Season?

Hm. Boro are gonna struggle this season, the way we're going. All our centre backs are injured, which isn't a good start, and we've just sold our only player whose preferred position is actually right wing. This suggests that we'll stick Tuncay there, and he appears to be the only player we've got who can score headers.

Fuck.

Re: Which Club Is Going To Win The Premiership This Season?

Chelsea Chelsea Chelsea Chelsea
Chelsea Chelsea Chelsea Chelsea
Chelsea Chelsea Chelsea Chelsea

I see your status is "available". Is this a subtle hint to Jose M?;)

Re: Which Club Is Going To Win The Premiership This Season?

Looking forward to the new season, i can see it being a 3 way fight with Chelsea, Man Utd and liverpool. liverpool have a chance this year, but only if their players all hit the ground running, but i suspect that the old hardened experience of both chelsea and man utd will see them drive towards the finish line with injuries more than likely going to decide who wins it or not. I'm hoping Utd.

The 4 and 5 places look a bit more interesting with Arsenal appearing not that nuch better than the rest, spurs have made strides, but solid if unspectacular signings for the chasing pack most notably, Aston Villa, Newcastle, Blackburn suggest they may close the gap a little and pos put pressure on spurs and arsenal.

Further down the clubs with new managers Bolton, Wigan, Man City, Fulham will all be struggling for survival, along with the newly promoted clubs.

As for the rest throw them all up in the air and see where they land.

The frustrating thing about the premiership now is the clear divisions between the teams, where despite some massive spending from a lot of the other teams, a credible challenge is not a reality.... leading to the usual suspects leading the way. The best supporters can hope for these days is that the title race remains such up until the tail end of the season and is not over by christmas.

This is the same in Scotland, where it is between one of 2 teams, however, the league can still be exciting as seen in 2003 and 2005, where the title went to the last day with Celtic missing out on goal diference and by throwing it away in the last minutes of the last game of the 2005 season. The last 2 years have been dire with there being no title race, just a procession.

If nothing else lets hope for a solid and exciting title race and that the team which plays the most exciting, attacking and adventurously entertaining football win...... guess that rules out chelsea then...... predictions - Man Utd (a victory for foootball)

Well Sunderland are top of the Premiership after beating Spurs 1-0 in the opening game of the season.

But don't let this fool you. For 92 mins Sunderland were crap. Spurs were much the better side.

One of these 2 teams will perform well in the Premiership this season, the other will struggle.

Form is temporary. Class is permament

Re: Which Club Is Going To Win The Premiership This Season?

lol Greaves, come on u gotta admit, spurs werent great, and didnt exactly create many chances, but yes they were better, only just.

i think sunderland played well enough, again nothin great, but i think they did ok for a team which was full of youngsters with only a couple players with previous premiership experience, defence was very good i think, was a very good goal though.

but yes i do agree i think they will be struggling after about 2months or so, spurs need to step up they're game if they are going to be pushing to get into the top four.

Re: Which Club Is Going To Win The Premiership This Season?

:(

2-1. By the sounds of things, we were doing fine until Roque Sante Cruz. How the hell he ended up at blackburn, I don't know. I'd have loved him.

Re: Which Club Is Going To Win The Premiership This Season?

lol aww, i think hes abit of a cutie aswell Jacab hehe

Re: Which Club Is Going To Win The Premiership This Season?

Cracking start to the Premiership season.

The top four all given reminders they are in for a tough test from the rest of the league.

Seven games to be played over Tues/Weds this week.

Result of this weekend? Reading with 10 men getting a gutsy 0-0 draw at OT. How Steve Coppell did not win "Manager of the Season" last season I do not know.

Who did win manager of the season then? I ignored the premiership for the summer so did not follow the awards. I was sure Coppell was gonna win it.

As a fan, I am thrilled with the result, but not with the lack of any attack. I mean we are supposed to be an attacking team, and we played ManU four times last year and scored 6 goals. Although we have some injuries (like everyone) and I guess I shouldn't whine about getting a point at OT.

You broke Rooney. Yay!

Re: Which Club Is Going To Win The Premiership This Season?

Well, we wanted to be considered a fair team after knocking out two Chelsea goalkeepers last year. :D

Nah! Someone's gotta break the pretentious overpaid swines. Until Rooney wins England the world cup, I won't act like he's all that great.

Re: Which Club Is Going To Win The Premiership This Season?

I really want Liverpool to win it kiinda in the way the won they Champions league while not being in the top three, a lot of people didn't expect it.

Re: Which Club Is Going To Win The Premiership This Season?

greaves is grateful for the lack of responses to Spurs losing 1-3 last nite v Everton.

Spurs were crap.

Tonite we have a lot of fixtures in the Premiership, and the live game on Sky is Wigan v 'Boro.

Well, Reading v Chelsea was the live game here on FSC - we got the better game IMO. So is it strange that I'm happier with our loss to Chelsea than our draw at Old Trafford? It's just that Reading played more their style - and we simply lost to one of the top two. That style is exactly what did us well last year, and we are currently playing without a lot of starters - and now add to that two red cards in two games for the least carded team last year - ARGH!!

Good to see Cech back in action at the Madejski - tho he played badly. What is with goalkeepers early in the season - so many mistakes.
