Outstanding result for Aston Villa there. As for Chelsea... Jose has still never won at Villa Park. The one and only place.

Israel pretends they're in Europe quite a lot. Y'know, with Eurovision as well as football. I guess it's kinda mediterranean, though.

If both Boro and Blackburn win, we'll go ahead of chelsea.

This is an intriguing season.

Man utd scraped through a somewhat dull 1-0 win, by the sounds of things. Nemanja Vidic scored with a header, and they're top for the first time this season. I suppose a 1-0 win is better than nothing, but Man Utd aren't really glittering considering they're the defending champions. They're also only one point clear when the second and third placed teams - Liverpool and Arsenal respectively - are both on 10 points with two games in hand.

Anyway, maybe it'll improve later in the season. Tottenham have gone ahead against Arsenal through Gareth Bale, so maybe Man Utd won't be knocked down just yet, and Liverpool are locked at 0-0 with Portsmouth. However, Liverpool's goal difference is vastly superior to Man Utd's, so if it stays that way...

Liverpool were lucky to get a draw at Portsmouth, but go top on goal difference.

Spurs 1 Arsenal 2 on 80 mins, just after Berbertov had a great chance to score.

And Bent has just missed a sitter.](*,)

Spurs 1 Arsenal 3. Arsenal go top of the Premiership.

It could have been 4-4, but Spurs did not take their chances and Arsenal did.

well after a slow start we seem to be getting back into the winning ways, even thought none have been very convincing wins, but hey champions win titles by making sure they get the points even when they're not playing well.

cnt beleive spurs, at home aswell.

liverpool and chelsea dropped points so thats good :D

Apparently the new man is going to be their new board member, Avram Grant, ex-coach of Maccabi Tel Aviv and others, as well as the former national coach of Israel.

I'd try for Del Bosque, myself, or Hiddink.

One thing i think is now going to happen is that Chelsea will not be as good a team, me thinks their premiership challenge will not be as strong without the special one!

He used to manage Israel, Portsmouth got him behind the scenes, Chelsea nicked him because he's a good mate of Abramovich, made him director of football, Mourinho hated him becuse he got too involved, Mourinho left, Grant took over.

I live in West London, and have yet to meet a Chelsea supporter who knew anything about Avram Grant.

Try reading an intelligent, adult newspaper. And then, read between the lines. ;)

well i have to say, arsenal are looking very good so far, fabregas and adebayor are unstoppable at the moment.

liverpool seem to be losing track of their good start and have now drawn the last 3 games.

Man Utd v Chelsea 2mrw :s gna be a huge game, especially with all the Morinuho shizzle goin on. Still not sure whats going to happen, the pressure is on Utd to win, where are everyone is expecting Chelsea to loose and they could use that to their advantage.

Oh and Boro just drew 2-2 with Sunderland, and Reading beat Wigan 2-1.

and 2nd place Man City have just kicked off against Fulham, COME ON FULHAM!!! lol

The fouling little gits.

We've come out of that with Tuncay at hospital, Arca in a leg-brace, and Mido with a hamstring problem.

We've already lost Aliadiere, we ended up with Dong Gook and Rochemback playing kinda like strikers, and two defensive midfielders in the centre. This is going rather badly wrong.

And both of their goals, incidentally, we're totally against the run of play. Hell, we supposedly played them off the park.

From all reports it seems the Chelsea players and fans are not at all happy about the departure of Mourinho, which makes the game at OT tomorrow a "must-see" match.

If Chelsea win, will it been seen as a sign the team are fully behind the new manager? And if they lose, how will that be interpreted?

And Chelsea do have a problem: clubs like ManUtd, Arsenal, Liverpool, and, yes, Spurs have a very loyal fan base. Only 24,000 turned up to watch Chelsea play in the Champions League v Rosenborg last Tuesday. Spurs had 35,000 at their UEFA game v Famagusta two days later.

Chelsea could be put under the hammer - and sickle ;) - tomorrow at OT. The red flag could mark the end of the Blues.;)

Newcastle beat West Ham 3-1, Villa beat Everton 2-0, and portsmouth beat Blackburn 1-0.

Sure greaves isnt too pleased with the 1-1 draw against Bolton.

oh and i think i forgot to mention, MAN UTD 2-0 Chelsea hehe ;)

The odds of Middlesbrough having any fit strikers for the midweek cup game, besides Dong Gook, is minimal. We may be starting with someone like Tom Craddock up front...
