Which Club Is Going To Win The Premiership

Re: Which Club Is Going To Win The Premiership This Season?

Yet another example of how managers just can win!

Do well, you keep your job stop doing well for any period of months and you are out of the job, almost as though you had went from being a capable manager to a flop in the space of months.

A good example of where even a mediocre team stick with a manager is probably Everton, where Moyes takes them from Europe contenders one season and flirts with relegation the following season. Despite this he is rated and is a solid good manager, the facts are that you are only as good as your last 3 games in the mgt world and after fergie and Wenger, teams are going to change managers even more regularly! This surely cannot be good for the game.

Who would have believed it.:=D::=D::=D:

Israel have won 2-1 v Russia, and given England a chance of qualifying for Euro 2008.(!)(!)(!)

There are times when sports results just leave you gobsmacked.

That of course is sports beauty.

Re: Which Club Is Going To Win The Premiership This Season?

Which is funny, because Scotland actually deserved to go through.

Re: Which Club Is Going To Win The Premiership This Season?

Yeah. I felt so sorry for them. When was their last big tournament - WC '98?

McClaren needs to go, he's shit

I prefer him to Erikkson, myself - although I admit Man City are doing well. However, I can't help but wonder how long it is before he starts splashing out £30m on players who don't have an impact...

He's useless compared to Erikkson, 1 Carling Cup and 1 UEFA Cup Final and he is suddenly top choice for the job, the FA are a joke by employing him and will be even more of a joke if they make Shearer the next gaffer

Re: Which Club Is Going To Win The Premiership This Season?

From where I work I could see the Wembley rainbow arc lit up this afternoon. Really beautiful sight.

The game starts in just under 2 hours...

McClaren was the wrong man for the England job. But he has been given a life-line by Israel. England need a win or a draw. If they don't get it then McClaren will go.

Re: Which Club Is Going To Win The Premiership This Season?

See, d'you what I think is England's biggest problem?

The players. Lampard is the best example. The types who you can't drop - it'd be like Brazil dropping Ronaldinho and Kaka - but have never cut it at international level to any degree of consistency. If we didn't have Lampard, I'd honestly think England would be better off - we could happily play Gerrard and Barry, or maybe Hargreaves in there somewhere. Lampard has never fit in, and the reason why the Gerrard-Lampard partnership doesn't work is because it forces Gerrard back, and leaves Lampard to falter up in front of him.

On another topic, a special little mention to the U21s last night, with Boro's own Adam Johnson grabbing a goal. It says good things about Middlesbrough that the U21 lineup included David Wheater (old schoolmate of mine :D), Lee Cattermole, and Adam Johnson.

I'm looking forward to seeing Adam Johnson getting a regular spot in the Boro lineup. We loaned him to Watford, he scored 5 goals in 11 games and endeared himself to all that. He came back, joined the U21s, and scored a goal against Portugal, on what I believe (don't quote me on this ;)) was his competitive debut.

Re: Which Club Is Going To Win The Premiership This Season?

Great 3rd goal by Croatia, one way or another... not that Crouch's was poor, but wow.

I agree - never liked the Gerrard/Lampard combination. They just don't seem to gel together, and there's no point in having 2 attacking central midfielders. Play one or the other, with Barry or Hargreaves behind.

Well, England have gone out of Euro 2008. :(

McClaren has gone as England manager/coach. :=D:

So it's back to the Premiership this week-end. :-)...

aye, I'm hoping for a win away to Everton. Doubt it though, Everton are on a great run and we are shite away from home. Keane'll still have them fired up though, and Deano may be back so you never know.

who do all you's support?

Re: Which Club Is Going To Win The Premiership This Season?

Haha I'm a Boro fan. However, I did some work at the Stadium of Light a while back; Nice place! :D

Gr.

I'm always dead nice about Sunderland, too! :( It's the damn Geordies that I don't like. ;)

Anyways, you're ahead of us purely on goal difference, so if I were you I'd not be so confident. We've got Woodgate, Arca, Mido and last season's Player of the Year Pogatetz on the way back, and we've just recalled Adam Johnson who scored 5 goals in eleven games, from the wing, and scored for England U21 a few days ago, rescuing a draw against Portugal.

And I can't see Boro dropping below Bolton, Wigan or Derby anyway. None of those teams seem to have much in backup, and I think Anelka will leave in January.

Oh, and as a final note: If Blackburn, West Ham, Portsmouth, Everton and Middlesbrough win, against Fulham, Tottenham, Birmingham, Sunderland and Aston Villa respectively - none of which are particularly impossible - then Middlesbrough will be 12th tomorrow. I know it's not all that likely that results will go our way like that, but it just shows how tight it is down here.

Re: Which Club Is Going To Win The Premiership This Season?

Hm, well that wasn't something I want to think about too much.

We really need a regular goalscorer. We should've had one, really. Tuncay has a brilliant record in Turkey - in addition to the fact that he scored a hat trick against Man Utd while at Fenerbahce. All accounts suggested that Aliadiere was just an untapped well of goals, while Mido was off to an amazing start.

And what have we got from it? Three goals, between the three of them. Our left winger has scored that many on his own.

The funny thing is, one of the strikers we sold over the summer has kept us out of the relegation spots. Cheers, Yakubu!
