Which Country Will Win the ICC World Cricket Cup?

Aust vs Bangladesh 31/3/2007 at North Sound

Wet outfield has delayed play. Inspection at noon local, hopefully play will commence soon after.

An easy win for Oz - 10 wickets and overs to spare. 22 overs a side.

Looks like the Black Caps/Hats/Beanies/Hoods/Headbands - for Christchurch, will they sort out what their nickname is - are heading for an easy victory v Bangladesh today.

Are they going to win the ICC World Cup? Wellington famously said the battle of Waterloo was won on the playing fields of Eton. I wonder if the battle for the ICC Trophy might have been won on the playing field of Eden Park earlier this year, when the Kiwis beat the Aussies?

Dun Eden?

I don't know that New Zealand has much of a chance - after all, look at their performance against Bangladesh:

They clearly didn't bowl well, because they let Bangladesh set an imposing target of 10/174 AND nearly allowed them to bat through (it took 48.3 overs to get 10 wickets). Then, when it came to the run chase, not only did the New Zealand batsmen lose a wicket, they only managed one century in their run chase AND they only just managed to overhaul the target (with a mere 20.4 overs to spare).

Hardly the performance of potential World Champions, is it? :D

In all seriousness, an impressive performance from NZ and a Aus v NZ final is looking more likely, but I wouldn't look at the Australian performance in the recent Chappell - Hadlee trophy debacle as any sort of guide to the outcome of an Aus v NZ World Cup Final.

Well, England will be pleased to have kept Sri Lanka down to 235 today. SL looked, at one one stage, set for a score in excess of 300.:=D:

So this vital game - for both sides - is winnable for England. But SL still have the great Muralitharan who can do a "Warnie" on any opposition team. And the potentially lethal Malinga "side-arm" weapon, which almost destroyed SAfrica a few days ago. And Vaas is the bowler who could give the top order England batsmen a torrid time.:eek:

Nerves will be on edge...

What a game this has been. England need 19 runs from the last 2 overs...

12 needed from the last over...

7 needed off 4 balls...

5 off 3...

4 off 2 balls

And Fernando uses a bit of gamesmanship with the final ball to win the game for SL so mar what was the most exciting game so far.

Can England keep their ICC World Cup dream alive by beating the Aussies on Easter Sunday?..|

Can they? Yes :)

Will they? No. :D ..|

No is the correct answer. They (the Poms) can pack their bags and go home at the end of the match on Monday Morning (Australian time). I wonder if they will get the same rousing reception as the RN members on their return from Iran?

A famous victory just secured by Bangladesh v South Africa.:=D: :=D: :=D:

And this has boosted England's chances of progressing in the tournament.:D

Let's hope the Aussies have (easter) egg on their faces this time tomorrow.;) Only yolking.:D

Bangladesh beating South Africa has certainly opened up chances for England and the West Indies - and showing that their hold on the number one One Day spot is likely to be short lived. :D

Well done by Bangladesh :=D:

England post 247 v The Aussies. It's not enough on a great batting pitch.:help:

Australia beat England. On current form it's starting to look ominously like an Oz v NZ final...

Awesome picture of Ponting here ..|

So England have 3 more games - v Bangladesh, SA, and the WIindies - and if they win all three they should get thru' to next stage...|

And at least, whilst Australia dominate the Super-Eight table and humiliate England, everyone knows that Marmite is far superior to Vegemite.:D

Re ^ - TriBi falls about laughing...

(some people REALLY have no idea...)

Oh - and next thing is - he'll be saying that Penguin biscuits are superior to Tim-Tams...

Now - back to your regular scheduled discussion about the cricket (and how Australia are going to win, yet again...)
