Who still uses Vista? XP? WIN 7?

I thought Vista was the best system Windows has ever made, and windows 7 only has a few cosmetic changes at first glance. Why is it older software is so much more appealing? When I log onto my college network, which uses XP, it makes windows 7 look like a circus.
 
i'm still using XP with service pack 3. i have vista installed but it doesn't run well on my aging system. i also have linux installed but i don't use that very often these days.
 
At work I'm scheduled to be upgraded to Vista from XP/3 in a couple of months.

At home I mostly use Snow Leopard but I also have a couple of PCs with XP.
 
I wish they could of skipped Vista and went with 7 but they are so hard headed and decided to make a shitty operating system with Vista. Wish they could of gave some of us who bought a computer with Vista a free upgrade.
 
I have XP on my laptop and Vista on my desktop. Either one is fine with me.
 
I built a new system and went from XP to 7. Didn't bother with Vista but I like 7 a lot.

Actually i'm not sure that it only had "some issues." Every single PC review of vista i saw slammed it to death, from resource issues, to speed problems, memory issues, etc etc. Maximum PC never recommended upgrading to Vista, despite multiple reviews of it and DirectX 10 only being Vista compatible. However, they have reviewed Windows 7 and by their reckoning it's everything Vista should have been and is well worth the upgrade.

On the other hand i kinda agree about the inadequate resources thing. I only tried Vista on my older P4 3.0 ghz system (2 gig of ram) and it didn't run worth crap. my mom has vista on her emachines that we got her new last year and it seems to work fine for basic computing. she's never had trouble, but she also doesn't do anything more than email, play solitaire, and upload photos.

Which is why I feel cheated on when I bought a computer with Vista. I had Windows ME and Vista seemed like ME but without the memory leak.
 
Vista had been working fine for me for the past couple years. Until yesterday when the latest Windows update installed and hosed by pc. All media played in various players had fucked up audio and horrendous performance. I uninstalled that last update and all seems normal again. Needless to say, I now have the automatic Windows Update disabled.
 
I use a Mac (OS X.6.2) at home and love it; at work, we migrated to Vista a few months ago. I've had issues -- not totally sure if it is Vista or my desktop. But, I had no issues with XP.
 
I built a very powerful new computer a couple of years ago and put Vista on it. Most of the softwear that I had been running for years with no problems would not install or would not run with Vista. After a week of frustration, I reformatted the hard disk and installed XP. I have never had any problems since. That experience really soured me with Microsoft.
 
^ Ah, you didn't know about the "No Problems" virus? All computers have it. If you type the words "My computer has no problems", the virus immediately starts deleting crucial files.

Still have/use XP service pack 3 and primarilly use Mac OS X Leopard, but have been thinking about Win 7.
 
People who think Vista is a horrible operating system don't really understand the relationship between an operating system and hardware. Obviously, if you're computer is not equipped with enough memory and has a slow CPU, of course Vista isn't going to run very well. Vista has some annoying quarks, don't get me wrong such as the UAC and compatibility with old software, but don't blame Vista if your computer is running slow. Vista was a great operating system and never gave me any problem.
 
I've been using Vista since I bought this Gateway pc in 2007. It's an attractive OS with a lot of bells and whistles.

Not flawless but neither is anything else Microsoft has ever made.

When this pc dies, I'll replace it with a new one which will obviously come with Windows 7, or 7.1 or ... whatever.

You don't miss what you don't have and Vista is more than sufficient for my use for now.

I'm much more interested in getting a blu ray drive than anything else.
