Who thinks it would be helpful to have the persons age to the left of their post?

Why does my age need to be displayed near my post? Will we be applying the credo "with age comes wisdom" in order to know how to respond or something?

Most forums I've been on have it with gender and location.

In real life gender and age effect how we communicate with each other so in my opinion it's good info to have. Usually you have the options in settings to not show it if it bothers you that much.

It used to be displayed when I was a newb here back in early '06*.

It was interesting to see age and viewpoints and they often didn't gel with each other in the way you might expect.

I'm not trying to hijack this thread, but I thought about something similar. I have thought that "newbies" should have their post count next to their post. I have viewed so many that are not particularly relevant or interesting to me. Most of them seem to be who is this, or does anyone have passwords, or go to this link, etc. I would rather have that little bit of info to help me decide if I want to bother reading certain posts.

Most people tell the truth though.

Although some people lie about it I wouldn't say it's irrelevant. It just means that for some people it won't be useful when communicating, but in most cases it will.

And majority of the people who lie just take few years off so.

Generally speaking, 20 year olds haven't had different life experiences and therefore different viewpoints than 50 year olds? They aren't attracted to different people or activities? There's no difference in attitudes toward sex or risk taking activities? Being older, I would like think that most people behaved according to your politically correct ideal that age doesn't matter, but the truth is that it matters greatly to most people especially when you take it to the extreme and talk about the elderly and most older people are discriminated against in a variety of ways including jobs and sexually. You look pretty young. Do you have no age preferences? And yes I know some people don't, but they're a minoity and probably a small one.

That's me in the avatar. Not totally fat (weight doesn't matter though does it ) but I like young guys and the vast majority would have no interest in me due to my age.

The only way I can think it might be helpful is from a generational aspect. If you're asking a question, different people of different generations will have different experiences, so you can establish if their advise is helpful to the particular problem.
