  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Who will be watching the royal wedding?

Why do they even bother televising it? They will probrably make it look like another reality show.

I will not be bothered watching it any more then Princess Di's.
I have no use for celebrities and royalty.

I honestly couldn't give less of a shit about it.

just looking forward to when I can stop hearing about it.

I have less than zero interest in any wedding that doesn't involve someone I know personally, so despite the fact that there's going to be two weeks worth of television dedicated to it, I wont be watching.

:=D:

I don't know either of them. I don't even find either of them attractive.

They're not part of my country. And really, if royalty have no authority at all, what's the point?

Makes no more difference to me than if Marmaduke married Goofy.

they are estimating that 2 billion people will be watching it. Every last detail has been planned. I would like to see it. I still remember seeing his parents getting married. :)

Already commented on watching the wedding -- but there's an aspect that interests me about the marriage: she's a commoner. They once made a king abdicate because he wanted to marry a commoner. How is this being handled?

Wow, my MMA threads gets only a few dozens views and ZERO replies, but a thread about the marriage of a princess gets hundreds of views and close to 50 replies in a few hours.

Then, there are some morons who get angry when I or the other billions of people on Earth say that, on average, gay men are less masculine than straight men. Yeah, there is no difference whatsoever between straight and gay men. I mean, I post the exact same MMA threads in a board that catters mostly to straight men and it gets thousands of views and over a hundred replies in a couple hours, but ZERO in this gay board. Yeah, straight men and gay men are exactly the same! No difference!

The main objection to Wallis Simpson was that she was already twice married, not that she was a commoner. Although that would have been highly controversial in 1936. Being American didn't help much either.

I think the majority opinion over here is that Kate being a "commoner" is a good thing, breath of fresh air, love match, blah blah blah. It remains to be seen how she and her family, who won't get the protection and still need to make a living in the real world, will cope with the immense media intrusion.

If you bothered to read the responses you would see that the vast majority of the responders are saying they have absolutely zero interest in the wedding and are sick of hearing about it. How does that fit with your gay/straight stereotyping?

Marrying a commoner in 1936 wasn't actually that controversial, bearing in mind that commoner basically meant non-royal. Even the daughter of a Duke was considered common! George VI married an Earl's daughter and of his siblings, only one married royalty.
