Who will sing the next Bond theme?

Since Madonna got the entire gay community into BOND with her theme song, maybe they should get George Michaels or Alanah Myles to do the next one.

I was a Bond fan way before Madge's Die Another Day (which isn't even one of the best Bond themes). Sorry, love the woman to death. She's an icon, but her song was so so.

Chris Cornell from Audioslave will be doing the theme song for the next Bond film, Casino Royale. The title of the song will be "You Know My Name" and I have a feeling it will be a great song along with the movie. It seems like a different change to the movies and a good one at that. Hell, the producers think it's already such a great movie that they already signed Daniel Craig to do the next one.

Shirely Bassey!

She's still around and singing, and she's already done the most Bond themes out of anyone...

Why not bring here back for one more?

*hums Goldfinger to himself then walks away

Moonraker was the other Shirley Basset song

Tina Turner is apparently recording the new theme tune right now, she joins an elite club now made up of her and Shirley Bassey as the only 2 singers to have sung more than one theme, Shirley has sung 3 apparently, i know of Diamonds are Forever and Goldfinger, not sure of the third.

Chris Cornell to record Bond movie theme

07/27/2006 8:11 PM, AP

Chris Cornell, frontman of rock band Audioslave, will record the theme song for the upcoming James Bond film, "Casino Royale."

Cornell's song, "You Know My Name," will open the movie, which marks Daniel Craig's debut as agent 007. His "soulful and tough" music is a perfect complement to the film, producers said Thursday.

"Casino Royale" opens in theaters Nov. 17.

Some Bond themes, such as Shirley Bassey's "Goldfinger" and Paul McCartney's "Live and Let Die," have become as famous as the movies themselves. More recently, Madonna, Garbage and Sheryl Crow have recorded songs for the spy thrillers.

Cornell, 42, is a former singer and guitarist with Seattle grunge band Soundgarden.

I have to say, this is rather unexpected but at the same time I'm intrigued and am looking forward to hearing the song when its released.

I heard goldfrapp were gonna do it
- or one of the tracks fo rthe movie

It's awful. Sounds really cheesy and nothing like a Bond theme. It's not as bad as Madonna's though.

I find it strange that so many people find the Madonna song so bad. Why is that exactly?

I actually think it's a really nice and fitting bond theme. It is very up-tempo and energetic, which bond films allways are (car chases, fights, amazing stunts and so on), it has the same bombastic, imposing sound as old themes like golden eye or diamonds are forever, because of the use of strings and it was the first Bond movie from the 21th century, which makes it kinda ok to give the song a rather modern/futuristic sound with the electronic elements.
When I hear the song I can perfectly imagine a trailer for a Bond movie that goes perfectly with it.

I guess it's the electronic elements that most people don't like about it. This kind of music isn't very popular in America, I guess. People in America even call this techno (which this song clearly isn't by European standards). And maybe - I'm getting on thin ice here ;) - it's also because people love to hate madonna (but I don't want to say everyone who hates this song necessarily hates madonna!!).

Now, about the new Bond theme: I don't really like it, because 1) it has a man voice and I prefer women's voices in 99% of songs released, 2) the strings aren't really that noticable, and the symphonic part of a bond song should be prominent and 3) the rest of the music seems a standard pop/rock song. :?
But maybe it will grow on me. I allready like it better after hearing it a few times.

Madonna's song just doesn't sound like a Bond song. I've got every Bond theme and they all have a distinct sound and Madonna's doesn't have it. I only went off Madonna since her latest "gay" album. By the way I'm British not American!
