...Today, some 100 days into his second term, Trump’s approval rating stands at a historic low, imperiling his party’s chances in the midterms, as more and more of the president’s backers realize that his impossible promises were never meant to be kept.

Everyone who listened to Toad.

I love that the internet can be forever.

Oh no. The Leopards ate MY shoes?

Republicans have suddenly discovered the "wealth tax", at least when it comes to foundations that they feel are funding "liberal" causes.

House Republicans are aiming to put big new taxes on private foundations amid their push to raise revenue for their sweeping domestic policy legislation, according to two people directly familiar with a GOP tax package that has yet to be publicly released.

Major philanthropies like the Gates and Rockefeller foundations would see the biggest tax increases under the draft proposal — private foundations with assets over 1 billion would get hit with a whopping 10 percent tax on their investment income.

Foundations with assets of $250 million to $1 billion would see tax rates of 5 percent, those with assets between $50 million and $250 million would pay 2.8 percent, and those with assets under $50 million would pay the existing 1.4 percent tax.

President Donald Trump is sending a stern warning to Corporate America: He will use his bully pulpit to publicly shame companies that dare to raise prices because of tariffs...

Every Chamber of Commerce.

I can't tell if this is a "wink-wink" situation, if he thinks that's going to happen, or if this is some kind of dog-and-pony show intended to impact his approval ratings.

Whatever the intent, companies are going to raise prices. They'll raise them higher than they have to since no one is watching anymore and no one is going to take them to task for it. Taoad can demand bankruptcy all day long, and it's not going to mean a damn thing. Plus, what about all the people who will get fired if their employers have to eat Toad's idiocy?

Trump's blind spot is that the Trump Org was a private company whose primary purpose was selling the Trump name. He was never accountable to stockholders who want to see profits.

If he thinks that Walmart, a company that is one of the most profit-driven companies in the world, is going to make themselves less profitable... then Trump is in for a rude awakening. They will chose stockholders and investors over someone who is likely to be gone in a few years.

I completely agree. I suspect that was a pro forma attempt to convince people he "cares," because the trogs are panicking about elections and rising prices. He's also not a businessman. He's a spoiled child whose image was carefully crafted by businessmen to make cash.

Trump won Kentucky by 633,451 votes in 2024.

His thank-you gift to them was immediately disabling their tornado alert systems, leading to 18 deaths in one day alone.

The capitualting law firms? And it was one of the first things that came to my mind...if they don't stand up and defend themselves...

again today...farmers...and yet the vast majority of them probably voted for Trump because of social policies and his promise to hurt the people they hate.

To be honest...I can't summon up a moment of pity for America's farmers although personally I feel their pain and regret so many of them losing their farms to vast corporate oligarchies that will either shut down production or redevelop them for Broligarch data mining facilities.

Latinas for Trump?

As they see Latinos and Latinas hauled off by ICE without regard for citizenship status or due process?

They not only voted for this, they have been active participants in enabling Trump to do it.

But now I think they are worried their voters might turn on THEM next year.

And more tales of woe....from people who don't yet somehow realize that Trump doesn't need them any more.
