How could it be the best country? Look around the roads and suburbs, they are in disrepair. The FED don't want to spend and the states are broke.
The Congress is always gridlocked. It seems abortion and the pills are more important than JOBS

Apple makes $billions but they outsourced production in China. If they were made in the US, we would have 120000 more jobs

Don't we have more appearances of the Virgin Mary than any other country. I'm not sure if eating is historically typical but she has a new liking for honey.

The US is generous to waste $billions to corrupt Pakistan, Afghans and Israel.

We are NOT generous with simple healthcare. Just look, there is so much abuse about Obama care What it tries to do is to cover the disadvantaged. Why do GOP are so nasty and selfish. They are fellow Americans

The US work force isn't flexible enough to do what Apple needs.

OTOH, if Bush I and Clinton hadn't pounded the "everyone go to college" drum so hard, we'd have 12mn more jobs than we do. We are short 3mn technically trained people, and for each one of those three more jobs would be created in support and such.

If the Democrats had gone with "simple healthcare" and included market incentives, the Republicans might have gone along. But they tried to do a grand plan for massive coverage, and that, as I said during the debates on it, will be its downfall.

Slow and steady; they should have begun by making an annual physical and three or four doctor visits count as tax credits, so people could do basic care, and get it back through tax refund.

^When it comes to healthcare, the US could learn a lesson or two from the Canadian model. And it would certainly help ease the medical costs to Americans if the FDA would allow them to buy prescription drugs north of the border. Afterall, many Americans particularly those living in the border states are already crossing into Canada to avail of affordable prescription drugs below the radar of FDA and US Customs.

I saw a show on TV about six months ago about "Medication Vacations" to somewhere in Central America. They were actual vacations, very cheap, but what people were really going for was to buy vast quantities of prescription meds at shockingly low prices. They were getting around customs by shipping the orders back. And once the people had picked up meds in person, they could order online.

The reporter said in three or four years the savings on pills would pay for the trip, for the average person.
Crazy.

Is this a great country, or what?

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Wow, just wow.

I was finding mysdelf getting rather pissed when I saw your first picture, then the second one. (Instead of going directly to the JUB post, I was clicking on the photo links individually, one by one, in my email.)

The third picture puts it in COMPLETE perspective, and turns your post into a magnificent work of art.

What's going on in Sanford, Florida right now is, I think, another good illustration of how social policies are being flushed down a 19th-Century toilet in this country.
