I was posting in another thread about the pretenses engaged in by Republicans generally and conservative in particular and I think what the conservatives are asking liberals to do is to pretend that conservatives are legitimate, rational, thoughtful, unprejudiced and compassionate people.

Apparently, treating them honestly for what they really are is too "condescending".

After the review you requested I found myself smiling at some of the witty

repartees, ribald side shots,empathetic remarks and general POSITIVE good-

natured teasing, pranking and (oh, this is my new word of the month) pisstakes

that pervaded the dialogues.

Guess old age has chilled my common sense and left me defenseless.

I seldom venture into this forum because I have been cautioned that the

ASSHATS that trolled here were vicious.....

You're a literary gem and probably a dynamite person to boot. However, there's a language barrier regarding how we communicate that I don't think can be overcome.

In case you were curious, my initial response to this thread was to simply call it "bullshit." (The linked article did a good job pinpointing some of the specifics as to why that is.)

Thanks for calling our attention to the Salon article. I agree with its observations. It does a good job of showing that Pres. Obama is not governing from the left and explaining why the leftish base of the Democratic Party has cooled toward him.

For my part, I describe myself as being in the Democratic wing of the Democratic Party. The article points to some of the reasons that I am also growing increasingly impatient. I seldom express that impatience in mixed company, but that doesn't mean it's not there.

There's just one thing that puzzles me. I'm having a hard time seeing how it relates to why we liberals are so condescending.

As posted in an an earlier post on this thread; that is exactly what is being pointed out. The Liberals don't see themselves as being condescending. Would you really expect them to admit that. They should look themselves in a mirror to see the problem

We're all part of the problem. We all think we're right, and we can all be condescending. Liberals, however, have a special brand of condescension that is might bit more infuriating.

This is the sort of condescension Liberals practice, but are blind to.
