Why are we hearing so much about gay teen suicides now??

I think a lot of it has to do with the gay and gay-friendly newscasters like Anderson Cooper and Rachel Maddow who are covering a lot of stories about gay bashing and suicides. The Andrew Shirvell/Chris Armstrong story was mostly a web thing but most people first learned about it on CNN on Cooper's show. However this only means that these stories are merely getting more attention not that there's more of it. I think these gay stories happen on a daily basis unfortunately.
