  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Why bottoming is considered unmasculine?

When your sex chromosome is XY, you are masculine even when you're dancing ballet in a sewing club with a totem pole.

I mean, seriously. Even the reason a woman is not said to be feminine or unmasculine is clearly not because she can only receive.

I blame the incomprehensive and unholistic sex education for this kind of questions.

Mental bullshit. My ex bf, a bottom, used to get me hard as a rock. You would never know he's gay unless he were to tell you.

Still I've known tops who are total queens. To many, I think they believe, in their minds, it makes them more masculine.

Because it's a more passive, submissive role.

I agree though that sometimes someone's preference as top or bottom has nothing to do with how masculine or femenine they may be, but a femenine top just seems odd to me. Strangely enough though, if the top is a transsexual, or a girl with a strap on, it's more arousing than if it were a feminine man being a top.

think of it this way, if women didn't exist, would we have this notion of femininity? probably not, so take it in that context, that the bottom is perceived to be feminine only because there is another sex to compare it to.

'Ignorance and stupidity, with a bit of manipulation of the masses,' is my answer to the original post.

Hello

Thanks for interesting discussion.

Apart from pure technical side of the problem (putting or receiving dick into anus) in society it is generally assumed that gay man are bottom.

Lets see on all that offensive words like "faggot" or "cocksucker"...

Cocksucker for instance is very offensive and negative word but if you re gay you re likely to be cocksucker grom technical point of view (you just put cock of your lover into your mouth during sexual intercourse - thats it).

Going further in that direction I mean that in male hierarchy gay guys are put into the most bottom part of the ladder. Just because they are gay guys

It is seen extremely clear in prison where guys who service as cocksuckers and assfuckers are in the lowest part of prison hierarchy and are really fucked up (threated like shit, humilitated, forced to do the worst things, etc)

Also I think that for example gay man would never be a USA president unless he hides his sexuality.

It s also the reason of hidding sexuality by some of gay people. For example if they came out in work (where community is mostly male and conservative) they immediately would lost their position and respect given by others.
It is also the case in high school and university....

also I think that its easier for girls to admit theirs same sex intercourses.

Imagine situation like this:

You re normal outgoing smart and good in shape handsome guy at the university and at once you start to openly discuss with your friends (both sexes) that you really enjoy be banged into ass and like to suck dicks of nice guys (assuming all that you re saying is truth because in fact you re bisexual)....

So it is no need to write here about what happened next...

But imagine that situation again but now you re smart sexy and adored girl at the same university. You also start discuss your sexual preferences (towards women)....

Here I think the reaction of the society will be different - rather tolerant and even
approving...

Ok going next...

Some of you says, what is true, that that masculinity and femminity is stereotypical and feminized bottom gay guy is stereotype for morons...

and in fact there is a lot of types gays (masculine bottoms, femine tops, etc)

But in society that femine gay stereotype works very hard...

As an instance I am not feminine in behaviour and gestures guy myself but I am rather handsome, tall and slim with delicate face features which it could be considered either andrygonous or feminine. And couple of times in my life I met the situation where some other guys thought that I am gay and believe me it wasnt nice experience...

Greets

I find it hilarious that many of those who posted in this thread take what the OP described as "unmasculine" or "less masculine" and somehow equate it with being feminine. Neither femininity nor the lack of masculinity ought to be considered as a negative.

Taking a dick up the ass has nothing at all to do with masculinity or the lack thereof.

Some of the most masculine guys enjoy the feeling of penetration, of being stretched out and having their prostate stimulated by a nice, hard cock.

Conversely, some of the most "femme" dudes enjoy bending a hot guy over and fucking him hardcore.

Masculinity is a concept that isn't as clear cut as some would make it out to be, IMHO.

Quoting Pablo 6989: "You re normal outgoing smart and good in shape handsome guy at the university and once you start to openly discuss w/ your friends (both sexes) that you really enjoy be banged in the ass.."

So I was a normal, outgoing, smart, muscular and handsome guy at the university (grad school in this case) and I openly discussed w/ friends male and female that not only did I really enjoy being banged in the ass but I had also really enjoyed getting paid to do it. And you know what? I was as popular as ever, if anything it made me more interesting, giving me a bad boy rep I wouldn't have otherwise had. The rep actually attracted a few women looking for new adventures.

Who needs labels?!

As long as I have a greedy hungry salivating cock ready to feed my insatiable hole, THESE LEGS ARE SPREADING WIDE OPEN!

So You Think You Can Bottom!

yeah, i don't think it's a big deal either.

labels are always going to be there. most of the bottoms i've met are rugged/butch and that's really damn sexy.

i really enjoy someone who's versatile. guys who are strictly this or that don't do it much for me, once in a while i do like change.

I believe most men are like me they bottom because they like the pleasure it gives. And most men top because it's like waking-off inside inside a guy's ass, a good fuck. I can do either what does that make me?

Apparently, someone forgot to send me this memo. I did not realize I had to be "unmasculine" to bottom. I bottom because I enjoy it.

I've never found bottoming unmasculine. Although the hubby tends to usually bottom since he loves to have me inside him, I also enjoy him inside me at times. The hubby runs Tough Mudder's, various other marathons and would not be considered "unmasculine."

Like Elvin, I'm vers but probably top more.....

I think a lot of people tend to equate bottoms with the role of a female in a straight relationship.

I like getting fucked and if anyone thinks I'm weak, so be it.
