I think the poster that speculated they may be wearing the socks because there is something wrong with their feet is probably ON to something. A lot of black guys were probably raised in an era when, for one reason or other, never got to wear shoes that actually fit them properly. It the; "If the shoe fits (or at least kinda fits) wear it!" If you spend a lot of your life wearing shoes that don't fit, your feet WILL suffer because of it.
Another factor that probably plays a role is just NOT bothering to take the time to care for your feet. Clipping your toenails properly and all of that.

I personally have a lot of black friends and I can tell you for a fact, most of them have feet that look a lot worse than mine. And most of them are 5 or more years younger than I am. Another common problem is teeth. A lot of my friends never took care of their teeth....so you can imagine.

The third thing that may be a factor is that they are so hyped up about having sex that they just don't even bother to take their socks off. I've done this myself...too much trouble to take the socks off unless you're going to do something that involves the feet/.....

I know exactly what you're saying...I have a few White class-mates/friends that grew up in abusive homes & run-down trailer parks. When I run into them around town I discover they are still poor...So the environment plays a part in your Future success & in how you view yourself...Their teeth looked good though..

So if your Black friends were poor they probably couldnt afford better shoes and they had to wear what was given to them....The issues of "The poor" need to be addressed nation-wide...

Very true Mr Majestic. Even my mother, the state took her away from her family and put her in a 'home' (orphanage) because of the bad situation in her home. This was in the 1930's during the Depression. She had to wear whatever shoes were available....and as an adult had TERRIBLE and numerous problems with her feet.

Now, here's something interesting that happened one day. I was visiting some of my black friends and hanging out on the street (as everyone did there). I was sitting next to a guy (a drunk and drug user), he pointed at his shoes. They were all worn out and his TOES were even sticking out here and there.
