  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Why do certain black people say it is impossible for them to be racist?

Is something wrong with me in that I only managed to listen to 22 seconds before I had to switch it off?

Does this mean I am racist also? Perhaps I should rethink my gut reactions to effeminate young gay guys "performing" on YouTube videos.

This is why I hate the me-centric Web 2.0. Sure, the volume of content was less Back in The Day when you had to know how to code to put up a webpage, but it did make it more difficult for stupid shit to flood the ether since you really had to know how to get it there. This immediacy of being able to broadcast anything to everyone from anywhere is fucking tiresome.

Youtube should have a vetting section. All submitted videos go into a holding tank for a week and 50 random people give each one a yay or a nay. Every time you go to watch a vid, you have to rate something in the holding tank before you can watch any others, so there is guaranteed throughput. If there are more nays than yays for a vid, it doesn't make it onto the internet.

And ANYTHING which is tagged incorrectly to drive up its traffic is deleted and its user banned immediately.

Solved.

There are a lot of Social Justice Warriors on youtube who pretty much say everything and anything about white people (crackers, neanderthals, cave Becky) and are very open about the fact that they hate white people but then claim "we are not racist because our hate for white people doesn't effect them".

I understand where they are coming from as far as the history of slavery and white supremacy but I don't see how all the outspoken hate is helping anything, and I think the claim "it's impossible for us to be racist" is ridiculous.

I can post videos of this as an example.

It mostly effects them. It just makes eliminating racism harder. All of the nonsense, the whole "our racism is not racist" and the whole whine about "tone policing." They're just wrong, vacuous morons. All it shows is that stupid unpleasant people can also be victims of racism and then lash out in their own stupid racist way just as actual decent people can be victims of racism and then do something constructive about it with the help of everyone who hates racism.

And the hyper little muffin in that video partway down the thread can police the tone of my taint because I don't give a shit about his opinion. The grown-ups are going to have to deal with racism (including his) without him.

We don't have the intellectual, systematical or rhetorical means to be racist that's why.

I'm not racist, but some white people really irritate the fuck out of me. Maybe it's an America thing. Need to get the fuck out this country.

Some white people irritate me as well, so do some blacks, some Arabs and some Asians. The common denominator you see in this non exhaustive list is "people".
Some people are irritating... to me. I am sure that I am irritating to others as well. If you choose to leave to seek asylum from this irritation I suggest that you find a desert island.

Its just a stupid argument, how much does Racism really play a part in our white lives. Fuck all. Someone calls me a cracker - so fucking what, the term holds no real power.

But if you have black or brown skin the system is against you, not just the odd person being rude. The police will view you with suspicion, housing will not be available for you, jobs will be off limits to you as HR reps quite often remove those with black sound names.

So for white people to get annoyed about being called a cracker or whatever is just pathetic when you look at the other side of the coin. We don't like to be reminded that racism still exists today for people of colour, because it makes it easier for us to go about in our lives.

I can't argue with this, but, not all have the intellect to grasp this concept. So when a person of color uses a slur or insult in reference to a white person, many whites see that as licence to fling a slur back. If one doesn't like the tatse of mud, then one should not throw it.

Are you trolling? Úsually the phrase SJW indicates that the person describing others by this term is racist and homophobic at minimum, in fact I've only ever heard one person I'd not describe as racist or homophobic use it. (Bankside if you're curious.)

They're just playing the race card, plain and simple.

Not really. I'm not certain how things work in the United Kingdom, but in the United States black and brown men may be murdered with near impunity by the state and its various organs or by private citizens who can then use the supposed animalistic othernness of blackfolk as a defense for killing unarmed teenage boys. This is very different from inter-ethnic trash talking, dislike, etc. So you despite your tragic misappropriation of that bullshit North American phrase (race card) are speaking into realities I do not think you fully understand.

Its like criticising Israeli policies. Bam, you're an anti-semite.

Nope. That's not what it's like. That's not what it's like at all, and maybe we shouldn't pretend like no one criticizes Israel as a backdoor to vulgar anti-semitism.

\Urgh - meant to quote Xbuzzer on one of his posts above\

Wooo - hey there - you're back - :)

Gonna disagree a little with your definition, the word racism used to mean thinking that certain traits were common to people of certain races, with racialism meaning people thinking that some races were superior to others - racialism's been superseded by racism to mean the same now.
It's a belief or way of thinking, rather than an institution.
Institutional racism, however is where systems/laws/practises are set up to discriminate based on race.

An individual cannot 'enact racism' any more than they can enact sexism, but they can still be individually racist or sexist. No qualifiers are needed, the word by definition is neutral as to who holds the view or whether they are empowered.

^^Sure.

But not everyone who criticises Israel is an anti-Semite.

Another race thread...
I´m not an expert on subject, so I let YouTube do the talking

This is a white supremacist country. We need different words for racism as that thing that imprisons and kills black and Latino males. Versus the actions of malignant individuals. Comparing some of the poor, rural, ignorant, and honestly anti-white black folk that live in my county to my father-in-law who is Upper Middle class, white, anti-brownfolk, and in a position to act out his racism in meaningful ways is a vulgar and somewhat sluttish confusion of terms. We are not speaking of the same thing
