  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Why do certain black people say it is impossible for them to be racist?

You are not someone who would incline me towards understanding SJW as something other than a regressive buzzword tbh--my memory is long.

Prejudice/racism is part of the destructive human condition, no matter the color of your skin.

This is the second time you've needlessly delivered this Latino race lecture to me. Do not do so again.

I'm interested in seeing a space/person who you think fits this description.

I used the word Latino by deliberate and conscious choice yes I mean (visibly) indigenous/African descended persons from the Spanish speaking world, but this usage does not match anyone in the United States' daily use of the word. Including most Latinos.

It was not a mistake. It was a choice that I continue to stand behind. It is in fact a choice that most Latinos in this country solidly stand behind. What Italians and Spaniards make of both my grandmothers seeing themselves as Latinas means fuck all to me.

And while we're on the subject mulatto is a racist term.

Much as I won't be told that I'm half horse half donkey and that Latino doesn't exist as a category by you or anyone else?

Yes then it should be easy for you to find one of these articles about trivial gender outrages. :)

Are you trolling? Úsually the phrase SJW indicates that the person describing others by this term is racist and homophobic at minimum, in fact I've only ever heard one person I'd not describe as racist or homophobic use it. (Bankside if you're curious.)

"SJW" cf. CIC can. 222 § 2.

Oh you were being American about race. NO. When I say Latino males are about as likely as black males to subject to State harassment, murder, incarceration, etc I am not attempting to evaluate their phenotype--I have no idea how the young men in question looked anymore than I know whether the young black men in question were blue eyed blondes (some american blacks are genetically white) or broad nosed blue black Africans from the Congo. I did not use and do not use the term Latino as a racial/genetic category; but as a cultural one. And being "Latino" is for me kind of like being Jewish it's an identity that I slip in and out of, that I'm fairly comfortable with, but which I'm not really prepared to sit calmly and be lectured to about.

I understand this I guess, but most of the people we call Latinos are visibly non-white ad present company excepted I've never met a strongly Euro-featured Latno who called themselves white anywhere other than on a census form.
