Why do so many left-wing 'gay activists' attack Christinaity but excuse Islam?

LOL

You need to pay attention better -- calling MariaT a Christian!

:rotflmao:
Yeah he clearly doesn't know me. Just like he called that ex Muslim guy a Muslim who agrees with deporting Muslims when in actuality he was an ex Muslim defending the right to critique and criticize Islam he never mentioned deporting anyone.

I guess to Soilwork anyone who criticizes Islam is a Christian and any person who was raised Muslim or is from a Muslim nation is automatically Muslim even if they apostatize.

I don't know why every-time someone talk about islam,
there are quite afew people just change the topic saying
"how about this, how about that, how about Nazi, Stalin, Pol pot ... " as if they are the topic.

Firstly, to all those who wanted to see evidence of a Muslim bakery refusing to bake a cake for a gay couple:

Secondly, some of these posts just prove what I said - those on the left giving Islam a free pass even though its views and actions towards homosexuals is a thousand times worse than any other religion. It's good to see many agree with me but of course there will be those on the left who just pretend or ignore that Islam isn't barbaric towards homosexuals. I don't know any Christian country in the world that doesn't allow homosexuals rights like the right to vote, the only thing in certain countries is that they can't marry and that is a legitimate Christian belief that marriage is between a man and a woman.

The thing that I find most hypocritical about both the gay left and the left in general is so-called diversity. I've seen so many on the left going on about how they are so accepting and inclusive of diversity, but that doesn't seem to be the case when it comes to diversity of opinion, be it on politics or religion. I as a gay man have been labelled all names under the sun for being a conservative, Christian and a Trump supporter (though being Australian I couldn't vote for Trump but if I were American I would have voted for him in a flash).

Maybe you are new to this but
many African countries are Christians and they are as bad as Islam.

Remember Uganda and "eat da poo poo" video ??

Except any Christian who pays attention to Jesus would object strenuously to having a religious definition of marriage written into secular law. And if Jesus' words aren't enough, the example of history, that shows that writing religion into law is a great way of making people turn against that religion in droves, ought to get the point across.

There's a thread on JUB pretty much dedicated to expressing the hypocrisy you describe, though it is an equal-attack affair insulting all religions.

Kulindahr,
Aussieboy is right, islam get a special treatment in the west.
That is why in the UK and in many European countries, islamists are brave they yell hate speech all the time without any consequences.

And I love how people act like that Islam is no threat. While Christianity may be a greater threat in the West terror attacks from Islam still happen and also Western people are not the only people in the world. What about LGBT people suffering under the yolk of Islam in Muslim countries they matter as much as we do. Again the regressive left betrays gay people by defending Islam.

This 100% true.

I just had a look and you're right, gays have no rights in Uganda, which is 85% Muslim. However these are by far the exception not the rule. Meanwhile I can't think of one single majority Muslim country where gays (and women for that matter) have equal rights. The closest that comes to mind is Indonesia but even there still not fully.

I actually think that the pro-gay marriage brigade in Australia have turned many off the idea of gay marriage after trying to bully and insult people just for having a different view to their own. If you want people to respect your view then you have to respect theirs. Respect is a two-way street.

I haven't seen that thread, will have a look. But the point still stands that those on the left who allegedly support gay rights but say nothing about the way that gays are treated in Islam, are nothing but dumb hypocrites.

Actually I think that Uganda is majority Christian. However yes when Christianity, Islam or any of the Abrahamic religions get enshrined into law. Gay rights go down the toilet. I really wish that Christianity never took over Europe and Islam never took over Arabia as these religions have done the utmost in the spread of sodomy laws.

Actually that is not true Muslims have been killing and hurting gays in non Muslim states as well. Plus Islam occupies several countries outside of the Middle East.

Anyways it is hypocritical of these regressive leftists to bash Christianity while at the same time claiming Islam is a "religion of peace." I lost a friend in the past after the Orlando Shootings who started posting these memes saying that Islam had nothing to do with the shootings but rather homophobia did. To which I responded that Islam had everything to do with these shootings because Islam says in the Quran and Hadith that homosexuality is a sin and homosexuals must be put to death. Well said asshole blocked me and funny enough he had no problem talking about how the religion he grew up with Mormonism was homophobic but wouldn't turn this same scrutiny to Islam.

The regressive left had no problem going after Christianity but brands any criticism of Islam as racist and Islamophobic even though Islam is not a race. The regressives have even gone after ex Muslim victims of Islam who have criticized Islam and it's teachings such as ex Muslim females, gays and Atheists and have defended the ideology that oppresses them.

The fact is that all of the Abrahamic religions are homophobic and if you truly stand for gay rights you will stand against these religions as it was the Abrahamic and Zoroastrian religions that basically invented homophobia and were instrumental in spreading sodomy laws world wide.

Same thing happened to me. A gay man once blocked me just because I noted on a wall post discussion how gay rights are not respected in Saudi Arabia, and I had not bashed Islam or anything.

And more recently, a trans man who sees Hamas as “the only army the Palestinians have” blocked me for politely noting the methods of Hamas are not the solution. I pointed out that Hamas has committed horrific acts of rape, and more precisely sex killing, and also acts of immolation, dismemberment and decapitation against all age groups, even babies, on top of the general massacre. And I pointed out that Hamas would never rightly treat LGBTs like us. I was very polite in my commentary and did not specifically defend Israel or bash Palestine: I was quite neutral and said I wished for a peaceful resolution and that I found the whole thing devastating. But no matter how sincere, polite and tactful I was, I was still blocked. His bio says: “From the River to the Sea.” According to Pamela Geller, it is a genocidal chant that seeks the extermination of Jews. Here is an exposé of a TV show used to brainwash and radicalize kids in Gaza.

Heck, a branch of Black Live Matters recently expressed support for Hamas! Here’s the article.

And it is true that any criticism of Islam is automatically seen as “racist” or “Islamophobic” by some. A Christian friend of mine believes it’s one of the reasons why Islam is the Mark of the Beast, the Mark that nobody can criticize and everybody must worship or obey, lest they be persecuted.

I think many gay activists and people on the left feel a sense of obligation to defend the rights of Muslims, because as a minority they suffer discrimination and persecution in the West, like the LGBTQ+ community and racial/ethnic and religious minorities. And rightly so. But I also think it is important to recognize and condemn any belief, dogma, or practice that attacks, harms, or belittles the LGBTQ+ community or interferes with anyone's right to self-determination, wherever it comes from. Thus, I think that whether it comes from Islam, Christianity, or the secular community, anything of this nature is fair game. But it must be made clear that what is being attacked is the specific belief or practice, not the religion itself, since there are many different views from within the communities of Islam, Christianity, or any other community. It is easy in the West to watch mostly foreign news reports and develop a truncated stereotype of Islam from the most problematic and extreme elements. Likewise many activists have created a sort of caricature of Christianity which contains all the elements they wish to attack. Remember, attack the beliefs and practices that harm when it comes from religion, and avoid a wholesale attack of the religion itself.

Wisdom.

We don't hold the same standard for Christianity on JUB, but I don't think that is representative of Western gays as much as it is a certain subset of us. Just as Lex pointed out back in 2017 in the beginning of this thread, there is an anti-religion thread and it may as well be anti-Christian for the content.

And the lampoons are not about dogma but religion itself, and more specifically Christianity.

We can't be white knights for anti-Islam and anti-Jewish "victims" but then cheer when Christian minorities in other countries "get what they deserve."

And, as has been repeated many times, there is no harsh lens directed at Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism, or animistic religions, even when the parent cultures are nonetheless homophobic.

And don't conflate this with the xenophobic screeds among certain groups in the West, that Christianity is being oppressed. Nothing of the sort. It's doing quite well, if vast numbers are evidence. Slandering it doesn't make it suffer, particularly from a gay website. It's just a rhetorical debate about the inconsistency of the positions in regard to religion.

Yes -- despite the supposed protection of people on JUB, there is a thread dedicated to making fun of religious people, and it's primarily mocking Christians. They won't allow a thread making fun of black people or Chinese people, but these attacks on religious folks are apparently just fine.

Yeah that's why there are so many ethnic minorities here, because it's such an inclusive, non-hostile board. Can't even throw a rock around here without hitting a black person, which wasn't a problem in the 1960s when Christians hurled rocks and glass Coca Cola bottles at back students in a response to integration that was so violent the fvcking army had to escort black CHILDREN to school.

As the descendant of those who were hung from trees during lynch picnics hosted by Christians, I struggle to empathize. I'm not sure if we're excusing Islam or if we simply address the direct threat which, for western gays, is Christianity. Literally no one else is fighting our equal rights and calling us pedophiles and deviants and I'm sure you've seen your militia buddies, almost certainly Christian, posting up outside drag bars in tactica gear with guns. Somehow, I strangely doubt they're patrolling and offering hugs.

Christianity is not attacked, it attacks and has been attacking for literal centuries. There's a reason "unciviized" tribes in Africa fiercely defend their territory from Christian missionaries. Removed from technology and information and even they know what happens after someone shows up with a bible.

As an ordained minister, I get tired of the proclamations that Christianity is under attack. Bullshit. Christianity is mocked not because of its message but outright hypocracy. And Christianity was not a message or series of words; it was a movement centered around action: taking care of the poor, the widowed, the incarcerated, the immigrant, the sick. In other words, the least among us.

And the United States was never founded by "Christians" wanting to institute that as the basis of this new country. It was sought out by those escaping from England that obligated one religion. The United States was to have a freedom of religion which can mean ANY religion or NONE at all. And what defines religion? The new country had a central focus on freedom -- not theocracy or mandate. If you'd like one of those, Iran, Iraq, and many countries in the Middle East provide fine examples of what happens.

I laugh when Christians scream and fear that Islamic Sharia Law is about to be implemented yet propose to counter it by mandating their version of Christianity. And they usually support their arguments with scripture passages from the Old (or First) Covenent. That makes them Jewish, not Christian. If they bothered to study Scripture and History, they might realize that the 10 commandments can be summed up with the proclamation of the Jesus they claim to follow: love. Love for God; love for each other to the point you'd die for them. Rather than chisel into stones and erect in public places, they might want to follow Philadelphia's lead and put up sculptures with the simpler message: LOVE.

If you look at history and Christianity, it exploded in the years following Jesus' death and the adoption by Constantine as the official state religion. It exploded because people not only believed but came to see that it was real -- real to everyone everyday. I think Christianity has grown fat and lazy because it's now a message of "get rich quick," "pray the gay away," or "thoughts and prayers." All require no action or getting off the arse to do one thing that makes others' better.

Yesterday my homily was on how Jesus could have shouted at the leper asking for healing and not violated the Torah command of touching a leper (or skin diseased) person. Instead, he approached, reached out, and touched. It was a story repeated over and over. Today's Christian would offer thoughts and prayers.
