In other words, we just took a step backward.
This.Leaving aside the gay marriage being against her religion argument, fundementally she is unfit for her job and therefore must be removed. It is very much the same as a Muslim person working in a food factory and then refusing to handle bacon because it is against their religion. Don't take the job if some part of it goes against your fairy tale beliefs!

These ridiculous religious objections have been tolerated and treated with kid gloves for far too long. Do your job or fuck off!
for once, I completely and totally understand Sloppy![]()

ASHLAND, Ky. — Five of six deputies in the office of a Kentucky county clerk found in contempt of court and held Thursday for her refusal to issue marriage licenses after the Supreme Court decision to allow gays to wed say they will process the paperwork starting Friday.
But Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis, whom U.S. District Court Judge David Bunning has placed in the custody of U.S. marshals ready to take her to Boyd County jail, said through her lawyers that she will not authorize any of her employees to issue licenses in her absence.
"My conscience will not allow it," Davis said earlier to Bunning. "God's moral law convicts me and conflicts with my duties."
Among her deputies, the holdout was Davis' son, Nathan Davis. Yet the other deputy clerks had reservations, some based on religion, as Davis has maintained, others with questions about their legal authority to sign off on forms without the elected official's consent.
Kim Davis' lawyers also called into question whether any licenses issued in her absence would be legal.
Fine her jebus freak ass $100K a day. If she doesn't pay, 5yrs in the big house. If she keeps her job after this and continues to deny licences, the system needs to be fixed, and it won't be fixed by legislation which will allow her to continue doing so. She is a civil servant and nothing more. She is there for ALL the people, not just those she deems worthy.
This.
If a person's chosen belief-system prevents them from doing their job, they should either change their beliefs or get out of that particular job. These ridiculous religious objections have been tolerated and treated with kid gloves for far too long. Do your job or fuck off!
I think the judge would have been able to order a media blackout on the court case correct? Now there needs to be a media blackout about her. Don't give her the fame, and in time, option of getting rich off this.
