  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

why don't all blacks support gays?

well at least you aren't allowing stereotypes into the conversation ](*,)

 I am not saying "every single white gay man is racist and that's it."

However, racism does exist in a large scale in the so-called gay "community" towards non-whites. The generalizations are necessary to make a point so I don't have to spend a paragraph explaining that I don't mean every single gay person on Earth.

Is that clear enough?

First of all, this backhanded arrogance is transparent as hell. You're just looking to patronize and are fooling no one. That's first.

Second of all, 70% of Blacks did not vote in favor of Prop 8, you silly instigator, you. That figure has long since been debunked. Blacks only make up 6% of CA's electorate...so even if 100% of Blacks voted in favor of Prop 8, it would not have passed if White (you know the MAJORITY) support wasn't as strong as it was. I know that's gotta irk, huh? Must be why uppity gay (ooops, my badd...I mean "curious"...;) ) folks tend to gloss over that inconvenient truth.

Finally, to say that "all" Black folks should support gays, simply because they too face discrimination is patronizing, idealistic and shallow. Black folks are not OBLIGATED to support gays. No one is obligated to support anyone. Wouldn't it be a perfect world if everyone who's ever been shitted on got together sang a chorus of "Hands Across America." Yeah, that's a nice little Hallmark card. Unfortunately it's not reality. People don't relate to each other based on the number of scars they have because not all scars are the same or were inflicted the same way. They do it based on personal interests and goals.

I don't know about anyone else, but condescendingly expecting me to support anything is most likely gonna result in my resistance. It's pretentious and patronizing for someone else to declare or inquire what I should be doing. No motherfucker, you mind your own business and attend to your own shit. Don't tell me what to do.

if everyone shared your same level of anger, the civil rights movement would have never occurred. you are counterproductive and the rage you exhibit does nothing but take away from the issues at hand.

so it's okay for you to make generalizations while i am criticized for doing the same thing? that's logical.

I never criticized you for making generalizations. However, you did put in your title "ALL Blacks don't support gays." I never said "ALL white gay men are racist."

I simply retorted with "Why don't White gays learn to support gay Blacks first?"

That's pretty logical.

FYI - a whole paragraph is not needed, "some" would suffice.

Yo tyler Durden about 4 black gay/bi people answered your question.

I dont mean to be blunt but either discuss these facts or shut the fuck up, cuz all I see is gay white man bitching about not getting support from the black community like gay people are getting shot by the cops lately

I agree with you. its a two way road. but there's no value in waiting for somebody else to go first, that never leads to progress.

didn't realize being shot by cops was a prerequisite for seeking equal rights

All I'm saying is this: You have no right to go about asking Blacks why you aren't acceptable to them when the gay community is divided by race.

Gays want equal rights? We need to learn to accept each other first. Not that the fight for equal rights is wrong per say, it just doesn't make sense to me considering when gays can't make equal rights amongst themselves.

Tyler I hate to say it! But I have acknowledged what you were saying and tried to give you a good response based on some points I agreed with you on and I have seen about 5,6,7,8,9 other post that were answering your question and HELPING you out and telling you their points of views... You have not recognized them! Instead you find people to argue with and bitch at! It makes me wonder if you really were trying to start trouble...

:(This whole discussion is making me sad. I dont think he meant to offend anybody. I wish for world peace

I guess the fact that I am accepting of all races, genders, creeds and people blurs my vision. i see no reason why at the minimum, minorities shouldn't help one another. and i really have trouble reading how vicious some of these posts are, when the goal i have and continue to promote, is equal rights.

Huh? So you are saying gays should not fight for equal rights until everyone in the community gets along like one big happy family? Because that will never happen.

I'm not saying we should wait until everyone gets along. I'm saying it's hypocritical.

Please, even Stevie Wonder can see what this child was up to.
Yeah Moe I just wish he would acknowledge the people who answered him and said very educated answers instead of adding fuel to the fire arguing with people....

didn't realize being shot by cops was a prerequisite for seeking equal rights

yea seeking equal rights and being oppressed by the government are 2 different things

what has gay people really been oppressed by ?

not being able to get married (dependent on state)???

not being able to adopt kids (dependent on case to case)???

yea yall got arrested for being in gay bars and expressing yourself publicly but that damn near 40 years ago and i dont think any minority group is down for the harrasment of gays

I mean I'm sorry I dont mean to me unsensative but any fucking minority group would love to have/had some of the lacking of equal right gays have

again I might sound angry but it doesnt look like you wanted people to answer the question of your thread you just look like you wanted to argue anything that doesnt have to deal with your question cuz I have yet to see one post where you addressed a person's answer to your question.

If you are accepting of all types of people, KUDOS to you. However, the world we live in is very different.

This thread was a instant fail to begin with sadly.

I agree the argument makes perfect sense. As a victim of oppression, a group like black people should be more sympathetic to other groups which are not considered equal.

But unfortunately the reality of the situation is as others have said not simply one where that is going to override religious or other cultural attitudes.

In a logical world, it wouldn't make sense for anyone to view gays in a negative way at all.

spot on. these things take time, but progress can be a constant process.
