Find someone, get in a relationship and stop running to the bars. Most people want someone special in their life, don't they. I'm talking 30 and up.

Because they are Men with options.

Straight Guys with lots of money go thru
women like Lindsay Lohan goes thru cocaine at
a celebrity night club.

Singling out Gay men for this behavior is unfair in my opinion.

I agree with this.

Plenty of gay/straight/bi men do this

what get ya ask this question? ifs mays ask

While they do want someone special, they aren't prepared to take anything but special. Humans are flawed and unless you can deal with that aspect, might as well stay at the bar.

Settle down as in get married, have two kids, a dog and a house in the suburbs? There are gay guys who are "settling down" in that sense, the NY Times ran a very long article on this.

A lot of straight men won't settle down. Tiger Woods is a good example of that. It's not only gay guys as stated above; it's not even only men either. A lot of women won't settle down, women are marrying later than in past decades.

While I tend to a relationship minded guy I think people should settle down when they're ready to. No need to rush off to the alter if they're not ready and besides the Stepford gay lifestyle isn't for everyone either.:-)

Noted........

Why do you assume that we don't want to? (And yes, I'm one of those awful over-30 gays. I apologize for not being dead or invisible.)

What nonsense.

As many gay guys as straight would love to have a perfect long term relationship.

Well, I know I don't count because I'm one of those loathsome bisexuals and I'm not 30, yet. However, I agree with rareboy and LilBit on this one.

First of all

Gay men are "men"

How many "Men" do you see with mistresses, forty girlfriends, and that are promiscuous? Making out with 3 girls in a club? Cheating?

Oh and I have wanted to settle down since I was 13.

Gay guys have been partnering forever. Some do; some don't.

After my straight marriage failed,
I have been partnered now for nearly 26 years, in just a couple of weeks.

I am with Sinfulsimon, LilBit, Rareboy,Ravenstar and Soreknees and a slew of others here. Some want to, some do, and others somehow miss out. Others prefer a different kind of life.

Settle down or settle for? I don't run to the bars, in fact I gave up on the "someone special" bullshit a long time ago... but some of those people you disparage are still looking. It doesn't have to mean that they have unrealistic ideals, it doesn't mean they refuse to grow up (though that certainly describes some), it's just that The Guy hasn't turned up yet. And you aren't going to meet The Guy sitting at home petting your cat, you have to go out.

Beware any sentence with the phrase "we all" in it (or "they all")...99.99% of the statements containing those words are untrue.

We do. We're just harder to see because, y'know, we're all settled down and stuff.

I settled down very early, at 18 I met the love of my life, my one and only bf ever, I was with gf at time but I had man sex 1 time and left her and I was hooked, we have been together for 25+ yrs now and have 3 homes, 4 cars, and 65' boat, a 500ac ranch, 2 dogs, 3 cats, 8 fish tanks, 2 koi ponds, and we both no longer work.

does that count me as settled

If I could find someone to settle down with, then yes, I would love to settle down and not have to worry about finding someone, constantly looking, hoping that he is "the one", but until then, I'm doomed to keep looking

I wish I could settle down. I wish just to find someone to love. As I grow older and go to the local tavern in town, go out to local taverns with coworkers. I am amazed at how many men are not loyal or truly settled down and cheat on their wives. My dream life would be like racer2438's. I want to settle down.

tough. deal with it.

and for the record i happen to know a number of gay men in their 20's, 30's, 40's and older that are happily partnered and settled.

this ageist shit makes me want to puke.
