Why gays should be wary of "equality"

I am very PRO-military, and I support our troops no matter what.

Do you realize that's a pro-empire attitude? "No matter what" means you'll support their use as a tool wherever a president might want to send them, regardless of whether or not there has been any act of war against us.

At some point people have to realize that supporting our troops may mean taking every measure possible to get them back home. Otherwise they're supporting the president as emperor in foreign policy, dispatching the legions as he pleases. Congress has to wake up and flat out start telling the president "we won't fund that" when he wants to pull a military adventure such as Iraq.

oh, my!

"Progress" implies a universality of values, hence goals, not yet achieved, hence, a need for social and political engineering to achieve that utopian vision.

The result is polities regimented from above, and a dehumanization of those below, into engineering categories, that are supposed to want and need the same things; e.g., as a "gay", I am supposed to subscribe to a particular sett of values, wants, and needs, and may not, as an individual, have any values, wants, or needs, that conflict with that ascribed set.

This is as true of the Republicans as of the Democrats. Both parties want to shape us into their sort of "good citizen".

To me equality smacks of communism. WE should not have the right to marry as a man and a woman should. We should have extensive tests before we give blood.

So you consider gays second-class citizens.

Marriage is a religious right, not a civil one.

It's both. But in the U.S., it's primarily a government one, because no one can enact a marriage without government authorization -- not a ship's captain, and not a preacher/minister/priest. So when someone performs a marriage, he's acting as an instrument of the state.

i am not homo-hating. I am gay.

You may not feel any hate, but practically? You want gays to be second-class citizens with basic rights curtailed -- how is that not hate?

And black guys cannot be racist...

You want as a gay man to be unequal, and want all other gay guys to be so too. Exercise your own right not to get married by all means, but when you try to stop me from getting MARRIED because i'm gay, then yea, you're to an extent 'gay-hating'.

And for anybody interested, here is a link to one of my facebook pages, i created this page months ago, sick and tired of blood donor discrimination.

Since he doesn't like the word "equal", let's put that in terms he prefers: he wants gays to have less liberty, less freedom. Freedom of association is a right, not a privilege bestowed by the state. By supporting the Republican party, he supports keeping gays from fully exercising that right.

Don't forget religion.

He described marriage as a "religious right". He doesn't believe in Freedom of Religion, but believes that those who don't subscribe to a certain set of tenets should have fewer rights than others.

True.

Just another tired old "conservative" argument.

Here in America "marriage" doesn't exist without a "civil certificate" issued by the local Registrar's office (The Government).

Mickey Mouse could "marry" you, but unless he's "given the power, vested" by the State it's not considered "legitimate."

The "Church" can do (or not do) whatever it likes, but if they're going to tell me that I can't have a "marriage" with another man then they damned well should start paying taxes on their assets.

Otherwise, either swing open the doors, or STFU about it.

Just saying. ..|
Owned! Good job person with a soul & a brain!

So I assume the blood thing is about gays & AIDS, right? It's true that in the 80's, a lot of gay men had it. Now however, the main vessels for the deadly virus are heterosexuals. (Don't believe me? Look it up.) Combine that with the new statistic saying that the main way of transmission is through heterosexual sex, & your bigot argument is silenced.

Ok, you're a gay man that thinks we don't have the right to get married & also thinks every gay man has AIDS. So, you think like a right-wing bigot? Why go against your own people like this? Oh, you're self loathing, right?

Why do you think this? Is it because of this comment:

Marriage is a religious right, not a civil one.

This comment is wrong. You can get married by a judge in a courthouse. Atheists can get married without any mention of religion. Marriage has legal benefits.
