Why is alcohol advertising not banned ?

Drinking Down The Moon

In the US we tried to ban it with a thing called Prohibition and that didn't work.

13 years of doom. The darkest chapter in the history of the United
States (together with the McCarthy Era).

In the Roaring Twenties dozens of high quality Rye destilleries in
Pennsylvania and Maryland were forced to close and are lost forever.

Back to tradition!

Remember the great, spirit-inspired works of gifted drinkers & poets
like Edgar Allan Poe, Ambrose Bierce, Eugene O'Neill, Dorothy Parker,
Tennessee Williams, Conrad Aiken, Irving Shaw, Raymond Chandler,
Dashiell Hammett, Hemingway, Faulkner & Fitzgerald...

Here in the United States, for a time, advertising on any hard liquor was banned for quite some time. Beer advertising never was but any kind of liquor could not have commercials.

This has recently changed but, as BearBoi said, there are rules governing it such as no one can be actually seen drinking the product.

That is so funny! What difference can that possibly make to people's perception of alcochol? In the UK alcohol adverts cannot imply that the product makes you more attractive or gives you superpowers.

As has been said, it is doubtful whether advertising affects the amount of alcohol sold, just the brand choices people make. The serious alcoholic is not going to care too much about brand awareness.

advertisers are very clever, they always aim at young people.

Now the bottles are very colorful with the pre-mixed drinks ... etc.

How silly of a mistake....binge drinking in the U.S.

That's why it is Scots Whiskey or Irish Whiskey, Russian Vodka, the French

wines and the German beer (even in gardens) et cetera.

The Americas and their border people are known for pharmaceuticals.

So, put that in your hookah and smoke it.
