I won't.For some time now I've been writing off any movie where "action-packed" is one of the descriptors.
The 1st one bored me to tears. Talking trucks and cars? I will pass on the new one.
Digging only a little deeper on the web finds many critics taking it to task for all kinds of racial stereotypes and misogynistic treatments. Two of the robots mentioned in this thread are apparently the kind of minstrel characters.
When the robots are obviously white, everyone's complaining there are no obviously black robots in the movie. When the robots are obviously black...
Never heard anyone complain that there were no "black" robots in the first one, but I've read several critics now who were offended by robots in this one being described as "Sambots" for the way they curse, are illiterate, have a gold tooth, and simian-like movements. With the list of other characters reportedly sprinkled throughout that rely on racial/religious stereotypes, it seems somewhat unlikely that this wasn't intentional. And again, this is a film that is not marketed just at adults, who might accept the stereotypes with the kind of wink-wink/nudge-nudge portrayals found on In Living Color or MadTV. This film is going to be highly attended by kids.
Don't you think children are smarter than that?
American children? Nahhh.* Bad storytelling is bad storytelling, no matter how many explosions, robots and hot chicks you have on screen.
Lex
Ok Lex, I'll give you the Indiana Jones films, but Empire Strikes Back???? While it's one of my favorite movies ever, you can't utter the phrase good acting in reference to a movie starring Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher. lol. But the original Star Wars Trilogy, like these Transformers movies, are great in spite of their faults.
I'm a big fan of good acting, but I also like boobs and explosions so I'll be seeing it tomorrow.
