  • Hi Guest - Did you know?

Why the hell do people like the Hunger Games movie?

The biggest problem I have with it is that apparently Robert Pattinson is set to play Finnick Odair in Catching Fire. I can't stand that guy, and he better not ruin this series lol! (plus he's not NEARLY pretty enough to pull off Finnick... but I don't know why anyone thought he was pretty enough to pull of Edward either...)

Nooooooo! Robert isn't ugly, but he ain't no Finnick either! Plus, isn't Finnick supposed to be athletic/muscular?! What part of Robert is muscular or athletic?

UGH! I was hoping for Ryan Gosling, not even because I'm that attracted to him but that was just my mental image of him.

He's in talks, along with Robert Pattinson, Zac Effron, Channing Tatum, Alex Petyfer, Chace Crawford. Personally, even though they're just 31, based on previous roles, in my opinion Channing and Ryan are a little mature to play a 24-year-old playboy. I get Zac because he fits the physique and face description, but not height. But then again, Josh Hutcherson is 5'5" and plays a 5'10 character. Chace Crawford would be good too. But not Robert, please. :x

I didnt know a thing about the books but I planned to see the Flick regardless of the reviews and the Hype...I realized how much Lenny Kravitz is a Beautiful man and Woody Harrelson still got-it-going-on....2 Sexy middle-aged Fuckers...

Other than that the movie was decent...

Uh, I really want to see the movie! But I probably wont catch it before it's out on dvd.

I actually bought the boxset from amazon when it was on sale once. I've only gotten to read the first book and I was actually a bit disappointed in it. I mean, yeah, it is interesting and fast-paced, but I didn't like the protagonist one bit - she seemed so blind that she just annoyed me for the most part. I'll have to see if I'll think better of the next to when I get around to reading them. But so far, I don't see what the fuss is about. Uh, and I hated how the book was plastered with quotes from various high-profile writers and reviewers, praising the book, forcing their opinion down my throat :-(

Out of this list, I'd like to Alex Petyfer get it the most, cuz he's actually pretty close to how I pictured Finnick.

As a HUGE fan of the book series (I'm talking about reading and writing fanfiction based off the stuff and knowing just about everything about it), I would say that the movie was a nice try.

The first time I went to see it, I was left underwhelmed. The second time I enjoyed myself far more. I learned to relax and enjoy the movie as a movie, not as the film adaption to my all-time favorite series.

Still, I was left wanting more. Many things weren't explained enough or explained too much (the reason for the Games were explained three times! At the very beginning, at the Reaping, Snow's speech). Did they even say who Haymitch was besides a bumbling drunk? Worse, they only implied that Katniss's affection was for the cameras when in the book she clearly tells Peeta the full truth. I readily appreciate that the film was made for the fans but I feel like if I wasn't one, I would be left confused and uninterested. Besides that, I feel that in some scenes the acting could've been better (Gale and Katniss's first interaction, Prim and Mrs. Everdeen altogether) and the 'shaky camera' effect got old fast.

To me, the film was more of a two-and-a-half hour long advertisement than a stand-alone movie. A teaser, encouraging viewers to read the books so they can better understand what the hell happened. Far from the worst movie, but far from the best movie like they were hyping it up to be. I just hope they do better with Catching Fire.
