Lot's of Wii info guys...

  • It will launch in the US on November 19th, for $250. The box will contain: the Wii, the Wiimote, the nunchuck, batteries for the Wiimote, the Wii stand and Wii Sports.
  • The menu interface of the Wii will be presented as "channels". Different channels will do different stuff... I guess they are taking the "everyone" aproach seriosuly... Following has been copy+pasted from Wii Fanboy:

The Disc channel is simply for playing games based off of optical media, i.e. Wii or Gamecube discs. Nothing fancy here.

The Mii channel allows a player to create his or her own digital avatar. These avatars will most likely be your online "identity", but will also appear in certain software, such as Wii Sports.

The Photo channel is a channel that allows you to view and share digital photos and movies from an external source. The Wii also contains an iPhoto-like functionality, allowing you to touch up, alter, and distort your photos to your heart's content.

The Forecast channel will give you a look at local weather. You can also zoom out in a very Google Earth-esque fashion, and view data for pretty much anywhere in the world.

The News channel is for, well, news. Various topics will be broken down into topical categories for your viewing pleasure. Remember, this and the weather service are free of charge.

The Wii Shop channel is, as expected, the online marketplace for the Wii. You'll mainly be in here buying games for the Virtual Console, but you can also purchase Opera's web browser and whatever else Nintendo decides to charge. Hopefully, extra multiplayer maps and the like will remain free, but we suppose that's up to the publisher.

The Virtual Console channels are the channels that allow you to play games from any of the various systems supported: NES, SNES, N64, Sega Genesis, and the TurboGrafx-16.

The Internet channel allows one to surf the internet. However, this is not free; an Opera browser must be purchased for a currently unknown price. However, the browser supports Adobe Flash, AJAX software, and essentially every feature a major browser should; it's a nice step up from the DS version.

The Message Board channel allows users to post messages on various boards, and send messages or photos directly to PCs or cell phones. This is also the service through which games will be updated and patched.
  • The Wii is region free.
  • When you buy Virtual Console games, they will be locked to your Wii's account, so you cannot take them to another Wii. However, there might be a solution to transfer your VC games if your Wii ever gets broken or something.
  • Wii will NOT play DVDs after all.
  • As mentioned, Wii Sports will be included for free with the Wii, and it will contain 5 games: Tennis, Baseball, Bowling, Boxing and Golf.
  • Zelda TP WILL come out at launch for Wii. Ironically, the Gamecube version will come out on December.

  • Virtual Console prices: $5 for NES games. $8 for SNES games. $10 for N64 games. Can be purchased with Wii prepaid cards sold at stores, or with credit cards.
  • First online game will be Pokémon Battle Revolution, at launch in Japan. I believe this game is to interact somehow with Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, which are also online.
  • Extra Wiimotes will cost 39.99. Extra nuncucks will cost 19.99.
  • All first party games are promised to be region free, widescreen, and priced at 49.99. As far and thrid party games... its all up to them!

Can't wait. To bad MP3 is coming in 07 now but Red Steel makes up for it. The new trailer is HOT!!!!!!!!!

I was waiting all night for this information from the Japanese show. Then I had to go to work and used my cell phone to access a website and got all the information there haha. Its going to be a crazy launch...unfortunatly Metroid Prime 3 won't make it for launch but Zelda will be there...and thats all I really care about haha.

We've waited this long...but wow...November 19th feels like a lifetime away.

Is this portable or like the gamecube?

Home console.

General... not to mention other parts of the world like Latin America... I can't imagine what the price of that will be here. I mean dood... I saw the 360 here for like $600 and thats like the US price for the PS3... so I cant imagine what that would cost here. Id have to buy my Wii online, or have someone buy it for me.

It might not be a launch in Japan (because believe it or not we always get those games here first. Japan doesn't liek Metroid for some reason (in any iteration).

I suggest you check out the NA stuff from today er yesterday?

Yea I was at work checking it from my Cell Phone online haha, Twilight Princess for Wii will be a launch title and it won't come out for Gamecube until like December 9th. I'm hoping here in Canada its the same.

For Canadian Gamers;

November 19th. It will retail for $280.00 Canadian.
Launch titles will ranger form 49-59.99...

Package comes with Wii Sports. Nunchuck Attachment, Wii-Mote, Sensor Bar, Sensor Bar Stand, Wii Console, Wii Console Stand.

<Is excited....OMFG Wii M3G4T0n!!!111

Hell Yea...One Wii and Zelda for $376.18 (tax inc for where I am anyway) That shouldn't break the bank seeing as if I wanted a PS3 I would have to pay over $800 for the 60 GB system.:gogirl: :gogirl: :gogirl:

This year the gamecube outsold the XBOX 360 in Japan...

Compare...

Xb sold over 128,000 units its first weekend in Japan...
Xb360 has only sold 140,000 units LTD in Japan.....
Nintendo DS lite sells in more units EVERY WEEK then Xb360 has sold LTD...=)

I'm not sure if you can used the same component cables or not. But seeing that you could use the N64 cables for Gamecube I don't see why they would change it.

Look at this : http://www.jeuxvideo.fr/plein-ecran-280842.html
You see ? The Video cable... It's not the same than de N64 or GC. It's confirmed. The "old" nintendo console have a little square in the middle (look at you console) and there, nothing.

You have luck because for me, the Wii lunch the 8th Decembre (france)

I can't wait till the pre-orders start. If gamestop/EB Games are bundling though I may just wait at the 24hr wal-mart. Oh and they are using Dobly Pro Logic II, just like for gamecube.

Amazon.com were taking em and sold out...the Nintendo World store in New York were taking em and they sold out very quickly as well. Hopefully thats a sign of things to come...not that it will be hard to find but that it will be a big seller!

They didnt exactly sold out (amazon), they just stopped takin preorders cuz the demand was way larger than they expected and they dont know yet how many units they'll have available then.
