  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Will Jesus Christ return to Earth during your life?

As an atheist, I don't believe there is such a thing as a rapture, however I kinda wish it would happen anyway. ;) Imagine, all the bible thumpers disappearing overnight, leaving the world to the rest of us. Wouldn't that be nice?

As a devout Lutheran, yes I believe that Christ will return to Earth. But it definitely will not be in my lifetime or the next generation's lifetime. Maybe in millions or billions of years.

Many fundies cling to the belief that the world will end in their lifetimes, and claim that is the reason they don't need to take care of the planet.

You know that they think that because the Oil industry has convinced them of that?

The Oil industry funnels money into the evangelical movement to make sure they think the world is ending... so they don't have to worry about the environment.

Scary, eh?

Seriously? I thought Jasun was kidding.

Wow.

Wow.

Watch the movie "Jesus Camp" where they're teaching young kids in bible school that global warming isn't anything to worry about. "Oh, the temperatures have only gone up 3 degrees this century.. that's hardly anything at all."

Then they all start talking about how they're leaving earth anyway.

I mean.. why should they save the world for all the sinners? they WANT to leave a damaged world for them.

"Worship the Creator, not the creation!"

What's funny is that if he did come back, and started telling everyone he was the son of god, he'd be labeled skitzophrenic and locked in a padded room. lol.
Seriously though, If a being such as the bible describes really exists (infinite power and ability), if he chose to show himself regardless of the time period he would easily have no difficulty in making people believe who/what he was.

I find it fascinating how someone can be a physics/engineering/math graduate and also a theist. I will never understand this. How can you reconcile reason and logic with a belief unfounded by any evidence whatsoever, and that defies all logic, reason and common sense?

The Greek Priest

A Greek priest is driving down to New York to see a show, and he's stopped in Connecticut for speeding.

The state trooper smells alcohol on his breath, sees an empty wine bottle on the floor, and asks,
"Sir, have you been drinking?"

The priest replies, "Just water."

The trooper asks, "Then, why do I smell wine?"

The priest looks down at the bottle and exclaims, "Good Lord, He's done it again!"

Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Jesus already returned during his time and he is here already which is the HOLY SPIRIT.

This rapture, and the end time Doctrine is all Christian Zionism lies. Dont fall for this, it is all devil-lie!

That is why we have so many bad wars that is all a bunch of scams because all this stuff is excuses and it is about wanting to make war so that Jesus will come back. (people weasting time on worthless WARS)

People need to grow up and smell the peace.

Know what was cool about reading through the responses to this post?
Nobody shat on anyone's statement of their personal beliefs...

I am not a believer of the biblical representation of the life of JC, and have a hard time believing He will return ever.

Some people are gullible enough to believe any old rubbish.
Of course they are.

Nothing new, though. Joesph convinced all the shepherds that his main squeeze, Mary, gave birth even though she was still a "virgin". ( I never touched her, I swear ! )

Yeah, that's the ticket... It was that star in the East that's to blame.....

I think somewhere in the new testament saying everyone will burn in hell.
That is why global warming isn't an issue for the true believes, but to be saved or not is.

I'm still learning how to cast the sea serpents from my gallbladder. These big type issues are beyond my ken.

Turn up your speakers:

arent these the same retards who thought the world was going to end in 2000

These are the same retards that thought the world was going to end in 1000. I sometimes wonder how long it will be before people realize he's not showing up. I'm hoping that by the year 5000 or so, if we're still around, people will finally give up.

Because he's not coming back, folks.

What do you mean, return?

There's that, too. I dunno, I'm inclined to believe there was a jewish rabbi around that time who was the leader of a particular sect...I mean the early church fathers obviously though they knew someone, and he may have even been crucified by the romans. But that's about as far as I'm wiling to go, the rest of the story is such [painfully] obvious BS it depresses me sometimes.
