So where are all the tennis fans?
Who is going to win? Let's have your thoughts
Tho' Federer seems to be the rampant favourite, there are other good players out there. Murray would be the 'local hero' - and obviously in with a good chance, especially with home support. Can't discount Djokovic either (even tho' I don't like him very much these days). There are also some other very dangerous players (mainly clay courters, but who can discount those these days) who are now in the top 10 - Del Potro, Verdasco, Tsonga etc. I can't say I think Roddick is a likely winner, nor Simon - but who knows?
As for the women - I'm quite unsure. I keep think the Williams sisters (especially Venus) ought to be getting toward their 'use by' date now - but then, they have never campaigned as hard as some of the other top players and seem to have managed their playing longevity better than most of the women. The Russian/Eastern Bloc players are always there - but rarely seem to quite have the mental strength. I don't see Safina as a winner - to me Serena would be the probable favourite - tho maybe Dementieva or one of the others will surprise.
All I know is that there should be a lot of good tennis (and too many late nights trying to follow it, LOL).
