So where are all the tennis fans?

Who is going to win? Let's have your thoughts :D

Tho' Federer seems to be the rampant favourite, there are other good players out there. Murray would be the 'local hero' - and obviously in with a good chance, especially with home support. Can't discount Djokovic either (even tho' I don't like him very much these days). There are also some other very dangerous players (mainly clay courters, but who can discount those these days) who are now in the top 10 - Del Potro, Verdasco, Tsonga etc. I can't say I think Roddick is a likely winner, nor Simon - but who knows?

As for the women - I'm quite unsure. I keep think the Williams sisters (especially Venus) ought to be getting toward their 'use by' date now - but then, they have never campaigned as hard as some of the other top players and seem to have managed their playing longevity better than most of the women. The Russian/Eastern Bloc players are always there - but rarely seem to quite have the mental strength. I don't see Safina as a winner - to me Serena would be the probable favourite - tho maybe Dementieva or one of the others will surprise.

All I know is that there should be a lot of good tennis (and too many late nights trying to follow it, LOL).

Well - Del Potro is gone! I really didn't think Lleyton would do that...

Oh no now Jankovic is gone, I sorta hope Safina wins, shes got to three finals this year and hasnt won any of them.

Well, the womens is looking very much like the top 4 seeds will face off in the semis. I still think it will be a Williams victory.

The mens most likely scenario would seem to be Federer, Murray, Djokovic & Roddick. Have to fancy the Fed on this one.

my baby is going to win ! he's so underrated this season novak will beat the ass out of everyone

Im hoping safina and dementieva can beat the williams sisters
would be nice to see someone different win. Have always loved the Fed but would also like to see someone different win. Djokovic is delicious.

Well, Haas kept it well together - he played very well in disposing of Djokovic. Can't see him have a chance against Federer tho' - especially after the way he neutralised Karlovic so effectively.

The Hewitt/Roddick match didn't start till 1am my time, so I just couldn't stay up any longer. Hewitt certainly had his chances - by all accounts it was one of the better matches of the tournament. Murray should be much fresher for the semi tho' - I'd like to see a Murray/Fed final.

As for the girls - will Safina hold it together or crumble yet again? Can Dementieva make it to the final? Somehow I still think a Williams v Williams final more likely.

Bring it on!

What a match today between serena and dementieva. I felt so sorry for elena to lose she played so well and had a match point at one stage.

Safina and venus - what an embarrassing match that was, the number one seed losing 6-1 6-0.

Happy that roddick won today, he has a big test in the final against the awesome fed would love if a-rod could win.

Dont really care which williams sister wins.

A Roddick win would be so unexpected. I'd love to see it for that reason, but I just don't think Andy has what it is going to take - skill set or mindset - to defeat Federer. But man, has he been dealing out the Aces!!!

Agreed. I've been watching Venus and Serena for years and I still can't tell who is who, so I also don't care who wins.

With the way Federer has been been playing I'm doubtful that Roddick can beat him.

As for the Williams sisters, as much as I would like Serena to win again, I think Venus has been stronger.

I'm very excited for the final tomorrow!

Serena has taken the first set!!! WOOT!!!

aw poor andy roddick he played absolutely brilliant today and came so close, he was so upset. What a match.

KUDOS for Andy taking it that far in the fifth set. Unbelievable!
