World of Warcraft

I typically play for a while when they release new content, then get bored and do other things until they patch or expansion again. 3.1 came out today, so I will probably participate in clearing Ulduar a couple times and check out the PVP changes before getting bored again :).

I am in a pretty tight guild of mostly two groups of RL friends, and I think we have 3 people who are gay in the guild out of about 20 people.

yah 3.1 sucked today. Server was crashing every 15 mins. couldnt even get the first boss down lag was so bad.

Argent tournement dailies Suck!!!! Courier quests are just stupid, especially when you go all over the stupid map.

My server is steady, but there were issues with Ulduar instance servers, so we couldn't get in there last night. Duel-specs are cool though. Now I can PVP and PVE in the same night without wasting a bunch of money and time setting up bars.

It took about 45 minutes for my patch to download yesterday morning, but after the patch installed everything ran smooth, which was a surprise. Haven't been in there yet this morning.

On another topic, regarding dual specs, what do you guys think .... I am a Protection specc'd Paladin and it's generally accepted that Paladins can tank/dps and heal "relatively" well .... what do you guys think, is dual speccing a paladin worth it or just stick with the current protection build ... and if dual speccing is worth it, what dual spec would you choose ... Holy/Prot, Prot/Retribution, Holy/Retribution .... any feedback?

prot ret because, you bring the healers you need for the boss encounter, you can always do with more dps, if your healing is lacking, then you either have not enough healers or not enough good healers. Ret is nice damage :D

Yeah, that makes sense.

I don't know, I'm just really leary about dual-specs.

There are arguments for both.
What do groups usually need? Healer or a Tank.

In a Raid setting however ret/prot makes more sense.

Yeah, the only reason I would need it is for a raid or a dungeon, and honestly I've never been on a raid and the only dungeons I've ever done were with pug groups. And since I'm not in a guild then it's not likely I'll be going on a raid anytime soon.
So, ehh, I'm not going to deal with dual-spec right now.

Yah with my duel spec, I have a holy one and a quasi-pvp/disc one. Of course now that the "flavor of the month" spec (aka disc) is gone, all the little priesties have gone back to holy.

My guildies asked why I didnt go shadow as my second spec. Simple reason. basically another set of gear. Considering I already have a PvP set, I dont need a third set clogging up my bags.

True, for now, but when Blizz gets their equipment manager up and running that won't be a problem. You'll be able to keep mutliple sets of gear and change them at will through the equipment manager and not take up bag space to store the pieces of each set. But I don't know when they will get that released.

Yah but then again knowing blizzard, your equipment manager will bind to the talent set. So when you change specs, it will automatically change your gear set.

Sorry for double post but I have a question for y'all EU players. Do alliance suck at pvp over there also (mostly because its filled with a bunch of 14 year-olds)?

I need a reminder to drink while PvP so I don't /wrists.

I'm not in EU servers but in my battlegroup, Shadowburn the horde sucks like hell in all the BGs except AV... :(

While it was just our server Alliance dominated us, because our ratio sucks. Since we have the Battlegroups we basically destroy the alliance in every BG except AV (as long as it is PUG vs PUG). I often wondered why it is not working in AV, and frankly I have no answer. The biggest problem used to be the unfair starting place of the alliance directly above their second last graveyard, but since this has changed it did not become much better.

To break it down I find it (in my BG group) this is how it works.

Alliance Win percentage:

AV - 90%
SotA - 75%
EotS - 50%
WG - 40% I know we suck at WG.
WSG - 25%
AB - 20%

That is how it has broken down for as long as I can remember. When (time of day) you do BGs has plays a large factor also.

The problem with AV has always been that the horde has a much smaller bottle neck than alliance. Horde have a bridge to cross while alliance has to go through a tower. Easy way for horde to win. Just zerg SPGY. Alliance hardly plays D (except the achievement whores). AB is a perfect example. Lets cap a flag and run away. /wrists

Actually easiest way for Horde to win is camping the bottle neck that you need to take when coming from snowfall to the next horde gy (past the commander).
But this requires massive D and some people keeping the stealthers in check. Either one you are usually short of.
And yes, after 2pm alliance plays notably worse :)

Yah Corny, when that happens, it causes a turtle battle. I'll let you in on alliance's strat to AV. We like to cap RH before FWGY. We do that because it forces horde to spawn at FWGY instead of inside the keep. As long as there is enough alliance inside the keep when we cap RH, its basically a win. Of course alliance will QQ when we lose the outside towers, and still think it's a lost; usually it isn't.
