World of Warcraft

Varahe - 80 Tauren Resto Shaman - Eonar
Murry - 80 UD Lock - Staghelm

I came into WoW with Wrath. I missed the "good ol' days" - And I regret it.

Man, you have no idea. Back in the 40 man days, if you were full purple, you were like a celebrity.

Plus, in the BGs, you'd literally have twice as much health as the other players. I remember farming BGs and dying <5 times in an entire afternoon.

Getting gear back then required real skill, intelligence, and patience. It didn't require a ton of raiding time either due to long reset timers.

I left somewhere in BC and don't regret it.

^ oh haha .. that reminds me of something that we always pulled off in arathi basin.

My shaman had an ele/heal mix specc, and I at the mine roof. A warrior friend of mine had his T0 gear equipped and stood idly by the flag, while I scouted the entrances with "far sight". When somebody came down, he "fled" so that he didn't get into combat while I rushed towards him.
Then he equipped his Ashkandi and half of the Naxx t3 gear, I gave him a heal so that he is full and we annihilated them all :D

80 Warlock, 80 Mage 46 Priest here, Undermine here! Off on hiatus though.

Personally I never understand why people complain about Blizz and WoW. I started playing back in december of 07. I came from Star Wars Galaxies. Be Thankful that SOE isn't running the game. They messed up SWG bigtime trying to profit from Ep III, lets not even get started on how everyone and their mother had a Jedi during the game time period when their supposed to be near extinct.

In short, Blizzard does try and improve the product they have and introduce patches and cool expansions, not only is it in their best interest to, but they are proud of WoW and have an interest to keep improving on it. No MMO released is ever perfect, thats the point IMO, a game that keeps getting improved upon by Patches, expansions, player input to a certain extent. I couldn't see myself playing any other MMO at the moment. Maybe the new KOTOR one coming out, but highly doubt it.(!)

So Blizzard now wants to show real names on their WOW message board and all the trolls dislike that.

Let's play devil's advocate and say Justusboys now mandated that instead of avatars, people are required to post using their first and last name?

I get the feeling this website would shrink by about 90% also.

I don't like the idea of displaying personal names on the WoW forums. As we all know, some of the people that play the game are batshit insane enough to hunt someone down.

I do not use the RealID feature because I don't have any friends that play WoW...so I don't see a point using it.

this is not about trolls but about privacy. and you are one of the first people here who always cry loud once that topic is somehow touched. so what is this post now? a troll attempt?

Here's an article from the BBC

World of Warcraft maker to end anonymous forum logins

...

Mr Brand said that one Blizzard employee posted his real name on the forums, saying that there was no risk to users, and the experiment went drastically wrong.

"Within five minutes, users had got hold of his telephone number, home address, photographs of him and a ton of other information," said Mr Brand

The post and topic has since been removed from the Blizzard forum.

Do you get bullied and beaten up for being a WOW player?

If the whole internet becomes non-anonymous, it would be different. The way it is now, anonymous people harass others. If there was no anonymity at all and the names of those assholes where known, a victim could fight back.

It's either all or nothing for a fair society.

anyone have one thing they are excited about for Cataclysm? I'm really curious to see how the talent trees and passive bonuses playout. I raid on my warlock and love the burst damage 0/13/58 gives out. Still playing around w/ my Mage and have no idea where i'll go with my Priest as hes still 46. Heres the official blue post

I'm also very curious to see the new unlocked zones and changes Deathwing has brought. Looks like Cataclysm may be here at least before Blizzcon in October!

Hopefully you all saw they backed out of the Real ID forum post idea because of the amount of complaints. Azeroth is safe once more. Well, a bit safer. Okay, not safer at all.
