Some of you are doing the math like this:
$200 on drinks and dinner followed by sex is in every way equivalent to $200 on just calling a prostitute to come over.
I don't think so at all. I think that showing someone hospitality in contemplation of some future connection is very different than hiring someone to behave sexually toward you.
So... my question is:
If they were so 'fugly' they had to pay for sex, why would I want to date them???

Sure why not. Not a big deal. I'd question why he did it but who cares. However, I would not date anyone who was a hooker in the past. Hooker = financial instability. Even if he's doing well right now, he could be back into financial trouble, and that means I'd either have to bail out his ass or we break up and he becomes a hooker again.
I'd like to weigh in again, having been in the sex trade during college, grad school and the first few years of my professional career. I haven't seriously hustled in nine years, although it was enough fun that if it weren't for the demands of my relationship and career, I might be still at it. During these post-hooker years my annual after-tax income has never been less than six figures, much of that banked. I could go on...but my point is that a lot of guys who hustle, do so as an adjunct to school and a professional career. Many of the guys I met during my hooker years were similarly students, or young professionals out for an extra buck, adventure and ego gratification. They were a very responsible crew and I assume they continue to be so. Not all to be sure, but I think you'd be surprised to find how many seemingly impeccable gay men have had sex for money.
Where does the nonsensical stereotype come from that if someone pays for sex at some point in their life, that automatically means they're ugly, or "undesirable" in some way? Meaning if they paid for it, that "obviously" means they HAD to do it, as that was the "only" way they could get sex.
I know this may cum across as slightly narcissistic, butt I'm the cutest guy I've ever seen. I'm so cute, if I posted a nude face pic of myself it could literally cause elderly JUBbers to go into cardiac arrest. Butt yet I've still had to pay for sex in the past. Why? Because I didn't have convenient access to gay guys at the time, and that was the only way straight guys would let me stick my dick between their butt cheeks and hump their anus.
And of course, there's obviously other legitimate reasons why some men pay for sex when they don't "have" to. Chief among them is they simply don't have time to pursue a conventional relationship. It's a lot easier and less stressful for them to just pay for it when they want it, and then get on with their busy lives.
Fair enough. I guess if it was someone like you who did it to pay some bills in your youth and now have a professional career it's not a big deal. But I mean I wouldn't date a guy barely scraping by in a legit job who was a hooker a year ago and is in danger of falling back into it
Wow, never would have thought so many would have paid for or been paid for sex. Just really shocked that it's so ok with almost everyone here, like so totally casual it kinda makes me a lil bit sick. Guess the next time I have to create an online dating profile I'll have to add that to my screening questions.

See, I don't know how to explain my views on it without pissing anyone off, (kinda like describing the color blue to a blind person) because they're really pretty basic to me. It doesn't matter to me if you make a million per year, are a doctor (who should know better), are too busy for a relationship, or whatever reason, if you've paid for sex then there's something wrong with you somewhere (in my mind you're dirty, tainted, or whatever) for having done that. Same goes for those who get paid, for whatever reason, be it paying for meth, to buy food, or to get through college. If you're a paid whore you're garbage, again, in my mind, less than a "regular" person. That's just how I view anyone on either side of the equation. This goes for any sexuality, str8, gay, whatever.

If I was dating someone, and it eventually came up that they had ever done either, even if it was 20 years ago, that would be it, over, done. No reasoning behind their choice would ever make me be ok with them having done it.
