Would you rather be rejected for looks - or personality?

Nobody likes to be rejected. Especially not by someone that you like or are interested in. There are different reasons for being rejected .. let's just make it easy and divide them into looks and personality.

Which one do you believe is the worse reason to be rejected for?

I believe it's a somewhat difficult answer. If the question would be: would you like to be liked because of your looks or your personality, most people would say for their personality. But if you ask about rejection .. it's more difficult ... or isn't it?

I am used to getting rejected for some aspect of my looks on the hookup sites. I am not perfect. I am not a model. I can live with that.

But I can get along with most any one. I am really easy going.

So, I am saying looks.

Physical appeal can be so subjective that you can actually be quite hot, but not someone's type.

Personality on the other hand is a reflection of the real you and if you have someone that you want reject you because of this, I think it can hurt more.

Having said that, I appreciate that personality types can clash as well.

There are guys on this board who could be as ugly as sin for all I know, but the beauty of their personality shines through and there are those that, while they might be good guys, based on their opinions and demeanour, it wouldn't matter if they were the handsomest studs on this planet...I wouldn't piss on them if they were on fire.

We're just not compatible.

Personality, I think.

I know my sense of humour is not everyone's cup of tea, and I can come off as arrogant and smug sometimes which would annoy people. To be fair, these are often the people I wouldn't associate with anyway . Seriously, I doubt we'd get along to the point where a relationship would work so the rejection would make sense from both sides.

So I'd rather be rejected because they didn't like me or "get" me than for being an uggo, because I'd like to believe that I'm not.

I'd rather get rejected based on personality. Looks are superficial and to be rejected based on them, I assume the person didn't even try to get to know me. Or, that person did get to know me and realized that I wasn't the right fit for them...personality-wise.

I like my personality so if someone doesn't like me for me...that's their problem...but at least there was an attempt to get to know me and I can respect that.

edit...I still think personality, but anyone that would reject me for my looks alone is someone I'd rather not know anyway...

im not self-conscious about my personality at all, and if i were rejected for that, well, whatever. im not perfect, but i do try to improve who i am, and if thats not good enough for someone, well thats on them, not me.

on the flip side i try and and look decent, i love clothes, skin products, waxing, eat really good, and do exercise, etc, and i think i look alright, but theres still a couple things im self-conscious over, appearance wise that im working on, and it hurts way more if someone thinks im ugly and doesnt even wanna be around me.

Looks because not everyone is everyone else's type. Nobody is everyone's type. So if someone rejects you for your looks, chances are you are simply not their type and nothing more. So it's meaningless, really.

That is a great question! I thought a lot about it and came up with the feeling that I would much rather be without good looks ( I can't help that) than without a likeable and pleasant personality. You can't keep your looks forever but a good personality is different!

Well, I had some experiences with the rejection of my looks. It hurts but it goes away.
