Re my earlier post, I took the question to mean not only now, but through my entire lifetime so far (and to come).

I lived gay in about one-third of the Sixties, and through the Seventies. During that time, it was definitely "harder" to be gay than straight.

Currently I think my life is somewhat better than "the average of all the possible paths I would have taken" if I had been straight instead.

Those early days were so hostile to being gay, though (including my dad never really "getting it" etc.), that the average over the years is dragged down. And that's without encountering much (or any) downright hostility or violence which some people experienced. Those early days were more a form of isolation than anything else, with the entire concept being nearly invisible in most media.

I've read the responses in this thread.

I was trying to talk about dating.

It's given that there are more heterosexuals than homosexuals in the world. We are in the minority. There are more of them and less of us. This means straight people have a higher chance of finding a date, be a relationship, or get married.

Yeah, but b/c there's more of us, it also means that we have more competition!

I hear ya though Pig. This was a good thread. One of these days I'll log onto JUB and you'll have a new thread (w/ a different Piggy name ) discussing your most recent date w/ a hunky man that you met at the deli.
