WOW - 10,000 BC - March.7.2008

It's released in UK this coming Friday!
I'll DEFO be going to see it wiv the bf! Looking forward to it! (!) :D

I went to the theater today to see this movie. I liked it, granted it's not going to win any academy awards (except maybe for sound) in my opinion.

One great quote in the movie was: "If I free you, don't eat me" <---- or something very similar to that.

I thought the sound effects were excellent.

I think you should check it out.

I thought the movie was ok. It actually felt like it was an hour longer than what it was to me, it just kinda dragged on.

The story was ok, the cast was ok, the effects were ok. Pretty much sums it up.

On a scale of 1/10, I'll give it a 6.

36 million dollars worth of stupid LOL and 61 worldwide.

I saw it last night. I did not enjoy it. I thought the script, acting and special effects were average. :(

The lead actor was a hottie however. He is almost as good as Barry Pepper. (look him up ) I kept on thinking about Barry Pepper when watching this film. (and no I do not like Barry Pepper). It is a joke with a few friends.

Barry Pepper is the top of the bad actor list. The actor to which all others are compared to.
offtopic:
If you want to see 10,000 BC go see it. Just don't expect the best film ever made.

Historical note: a lot of reviewers tried to skewer this aspect. The thing is, the historian's picture of what 10,000 BC was like is very incomplete.
What you see is neither historical nor anti-historical, but simply a somewhat plausible pre-historical fantasy.
It doesn't merit negative criticism on that basis; it's just that we don't know--with %100 certainty.
Current thinking, based on a variety of evidence, concerning these Times does, to be sure, suggest that things like horses weren't used by humans until about 5,000 years later. But we are not absolutely sure %100 of that. And so on. Don't take what's in the movie too seriously either way.

Umm, well, the distinction between fantasy and archaeologically-based conjecture is a bit muddled for some people.

The landscape presented suggests an extrapolation on Sahara-Atlantis thinking: the idea that much of Neolithic and even Bronze Age technology/civilization may have started long ago in a much greener and more hospitable Sahara.

Dinosaurs? Could a few have survived in the middle of that vast acreage? This suggestion is enough for a motion picture fantasy.

10,000 BC. Were there "cavemen" still, so late? Neanderthals? There are suggestions in Greek mythology that might be evidence of a profound socio-cultural revolution, featuring a separating-out of a special type of humankind.

No, there is no evidence that supports a serious discussion of these fantastic inventions. And yet, you cannot deny that mythology gets very serious discussions in many places.

ll, my first comment about this movie was "Oh, They speak english?"
not a bad one tho, it's just confusing... they started at snowy mountains and ended up at egypt... and they're just WALKING... lol

This thread is funny. Enough here to avoid the movie at all cost.....unless that hunky lead man is butt naked in any scenes! LOL

I SAW the WHOLE movie!!!!

There aren't any dinosaurs in it.

The above link will explain what was in the movie. You might want to wait until after you've seen it. Or not.

There aren't any "cavemen" or Neanderthals. They're all basically Homo sapiens.
Alas, there are no homoerotic orgy scenes.:cry::cry:

The lead actor is quite cute. Reminds you a lot of Colin Farrell.

None of the elements of the story are preposterous, given a moderate amount of movie-making license.
But even the geographical sequence is plausible.
At the same time, none of it should be taken as other than speculative.
That said, there is a good amount of intellectual conjecture in the movie about "what was" to make it interesting and to take it beyond caveman melodrama.
If part of it looks like "ancient Egypt" keep in mind that they are intending "VERY ancient Egypt," sort of a back-story to the Ancient Egypt that is familiar to us.

LOL where did i call you "stupid"?

Your statement says it all.

You made yourself look dumb by saying its "all white."

Next time go and see a movie before you open tu la boca.
