Party leaders reject call for investigation; ‘Very hard for me to imagine that anything happened,’ says Trump
Yeah, the FBI doesn't have an agenda right now, noooooo sirreeee.
A little trip to Snopes and easy peasy, you separate the scandalous and fictitious from the facts. Something conservatives, especially, have no desire to work around these days.
I should have said Republicans, or "alleged conservatives". There's still disagreement I have with the largely libertarian classic conservatism.... I've never been a Republican but find a lot to like about Theodore Roosevelt (not necessarily his foreign policy but domestically) though he was a liberal Republican. Read a lot about Barry Goldwater(who in his later years evolved and regretted his opposition to civil rights legislation)… Mr. Conservative who today would be ripped as a RINO... I respect other views held in good faith. Right now, the Republicans have lost all moral cohesion and credibility. They may grit their teeth at his economic populism(trade and protectionism)but they love the tax cuts, gutting of essential government agencies through deregulation, military spending continuing unabated, the hostility towards climate change and especially the very conservative direction of the courts. Brett Kavanaugh on the Supreme Court solidifies a conservative majority perhaps for another decade or more on the Supreme Court.Repeated for emphasis. I would personally like to replace the word "consrvatives" with "Republicans." I'd love to have a place to stand without being in a ugly shuffle of overspending, womb invading, and again overspending Republicans. (If you'd like to have sex with your boyfriend, I'll cover for ya)

In 1991, when Anita Hill challenged the nomination of Clarence Thomas(Bush 41's most egregious sin, despite his general sanity in politics and temperament)with charges of repeated sexual harassment, things were quite different from today's GOP environment. Bush 41 had the FBI do an expedited background investigation before having Hill testify in front of Congress. Two of the most intransigent foes of urging a background FBI investigation on the charge of Christine Blasey Johnson against Supreme Court Justice nominee Brett Kavanaugh have been Senate dinosaurs Chuck Grassley of Iowa and Orrin Hatch of Utah, who were around in 1991 and praised the decision to have that background investigation as the basic, right thing to do. The President could urge the FBI to investigate and get more information... that's their duty. Background info would only have to take a few days as it did back in 1991 but today neither old coot feels any urgency or has any respect for decency that would prod President Trump to do the basic, humane thing. No one should just be called in cold for what only would be a he said, she said farce... not allowing any more potential witnesses (from either side)….. it's just a sham. Of course when Anita Hill did testify, the Republicans took out their knives and did al they could to tear her apart. But they covered their asses regarding the process. Tried to look like they wanted to be fair and respectful. The Democrats though held the Senate, and yes Democratic help(22 senators) got Clarence Thomas in... but the Republicans pretended to respect decency and fair here. Now with a slim margin of control of the Senate and desperate to get a conservative Supreme Court majority at all costs, they let their true colors show. A conservative court, pardon the pun, trumps EVERYTHING. I wouldn't trust the word of most Republican "conservatives" today with anything... now the courts, after the midterms Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid "reform" because of course the budget has to be balanced and we have to watch spending though they pushed through over a trillion dollar tax cut and that looks set to blow a sky high hole in future revenues.
Forgive the rambling, but this Kavanaugh debacle represents the essential state of today's Republican right wing agenda driven politics... win at all costs and fuck what happens to the rest of us. And fuck what happens to what America represents and devolves into.
Christine Blasey Ford's accusations that Brett Kavanaugh, a Supreme Court nominee, sexually assaulted her while the two were in high school have Internet conspiracy theorists trying to discredit her by spreading wild rumors.
The New York Times has debunked the top five conspiracy theories.
