Yeah, the FBI doesn't have an agenda right now, noooooo sirreeee.

Yes they do, to find out if Kavanaugh is a sexual predator. He's terrified of this investigation cuz he knows lying to them has huge implications that's why they'll avoid the feds at all costs, and they JUST missed hurricane florence which would've been a great distraction, they need somebody to blow up a building or shoot a cop or a pop star to get married, something huge to dominate the headlines cuz right now all eyes is on them and thus far their handilng of it has been pretty fucking gross.

never seen a nominee want this Supreme Court thing more than this guy---his tongue has been up Dumps hole from day one--he will say and do anything to get on that court--if he was really 100% INNOCENT---he'd ask for an investigation to clear his name ---but he so wants this job he doesn't care if his 30 years on the court is marred by the fact that he is an accused sexual felon---just like that other lying scumbag Clarence Thomas. Good to be a republican ---

If this guy is confirmed, without proper vetting (which Orrin Hatch thought was entirely proper and necessary for Clarence Thomas - oh, what a turncoat he is now), the rage needs to sweep the country in the most massive purge of a political party in modern-times American history. EVERYBODY NEEDS TO VOTE!!!! If everybody votes, this cancer can be swept out of many political offices.

But with Kavanaugh on SCOTUS, will it be too late for the United States to survive as a land of (some) freedom?

On the other hand, at this point, Kennedy was NO DIFFERENT than Kavanaugh in the last two or three years of his term...OK, not since Obergefell. On the other hand, he voted on the wrong side on Citizens United, all voting rights cases, the ACA ["Obamacare"] mandate...and consider IT WAS KENNEDY who moved KAVANAUGH to the front of the queue!!

I said it in another thread, and I'll repeat it here...any talk about Kennedy being a "swing vote" is total rubbish. It was widely believed that he would probably vote for Obergefell correctly, before it was done, because of "precedent" IMPLIED by some of his other votes and opinions. Other than that, he's been PRETTY MUCH ANOTHER CLARENCE THOMAS VOTE in recent years. Kennedy USED TO be a swing vote 8, 10 years ago or so, and even I swallowed the "swing vote" rubbish when he resigned. "OH NO, we're going to get another Scalia after all!" I was forgetting that Kennedy had already become a Thomas or a Scalia, so sadly getting Kavanaugh on will make hardly any difference.

EXCEPT THAT: (1) Kavanaugh is D...ump's stooge and will do anything and everything to shut down the discovery/investigative phases of the Russia, emoluments, etc. stuff so that the orange man who is his Master, his King and his God all in one, will GET OFF SCOTT-FREE...AND
(2) the more balanced nomination under Obama should have been confirmed, NOT put on the back burner for 446 days or whatever it was, and there should NOT be a vacancy now.

Now they're rushing heels-over-head to get Kavanaugh in with no scrutiny as their stealth Justice, because the Republicans and D...ump want to rule by pure imperial fiat.

I'm hoping against hope that Roberts will actually realize that the entire concepts of "America" and "being American" are being demolished, and Roberts has actually shown at least some sanity - it was HIS vote, NOT the vote of Kennedy (who obviously drank the Tea Party Kool-Aid and became turncoat before the 2012 decision), that saved ACA/Obamacare. I can name at least two friends who are still alive only because Obamacare exists.

Yes, THAT was back in 2012 already. Six fucking years ago seems like two and yet it seems like D...ump has been in office for 20 years - yikes...please, John Roberts, wake up!

Again, Mikey is also wrong. Several of the right wing sites that promoted the Christine A Ford garbage offered retractions. Dr. Christine A Ford taught at University of California at Fullerton. Dr Christine Blasey Ford(who by the way professionally goes as Christine Blasey) teaches at Palo Alto and Stanford. You can have your own opinions, as incoherent and wrongheaded as they may be(and often are)… you are not entitled to your own facts when the truth inconveniences the agenda.

And for good measure, the foreclosure against Dr. Ford's parent's house was a case pending for Judge Martha Cavanaugh(mother of Brett Kavanaugh) but the Blaseys reached a settlement with the bank and the bank requested the case be dismissed, which it was. No evil judge drives them out of their home and revenge is served years later by their daughter. The case was never even heard by the judge since she did as requested and dropped the charges. Take a grain of truth, and make it conspiracy. That's the vast majority of the conservative guidebook these days.

A little trip to Snopes and easy peasy, you separate the scandalous and fictitious from the facts. Something conservatives, especially, have no desire to work around these days.

Repeated for emphasis. I would personally like to replace the word "consrvatives" with "Republicans." I'd love to have a place to stand without being in a ugly shuffle of overspending, womb invading, and again overspending Republicans. (If you'd like to have sex with your boyfriend, I'll cover for ya)

^ It's more fun to make up their own facts. Trump's followers are good students, just like the poor 'suckers' who got conned into enrolling in Trump University.

I should have said Republicans, or "alleged conservatives". There's still disagreement I have with the largely libertarian classic conservatism.... I've never been a Republican but find a lot to like about Theodore Roosevelt (not necessarily his foreign policy but domestically) though he was a liberal Republican. Read a lot about Barry Goldwater(who in his later years evolved and regretted his opposition to civil rights legislation)… Mr. Conservative who today would be ripped as a RINO... I respect other views held in good faith. Right now, the Republicans have lost all moral cohesion and credibility. They may grit their teeth at his economic populism(trade and protectionism)but they love the tax cuts, gutting of essential government agencies through deregulation, military spending continuing unabated, the hostility towards climate change and especially the very conservative direction of the courts. Brett Kavanaugh on the Supreme Court solidifies a conservative majority perhaps for another decade or more on the Supreme Court.

In 1991, when Anita Hill challenged the nomination of Clarence Thomas(Bush 41's most egregious sin, despite his general sanity in politics and temperament)with charges of repeated sexual harassment, things were quite different from today's GOP environment. Bush 41 had the FBI do an expedited background investigation before having Hill testify in front of Congress. Two of the most intransigent foes of urging a background FBI investigation on the charge of Christine Blasey Johnson against Supreme Court Justice nominee Brett Kavanaugh have been Senate dinosaurs Chuck Grassley of Iowa and Orrin Hatch of Utah, who were around in 1991 and praised the decision to have that background investigation as the basic, right thing to do. The President could urge the FBI to investigate and get more information... that's their duty. Background info would only have to take a few days as it did back in 1991 but today neither old coot feels any urgency or has any respect for decency that would prod President Trump to do the basic, humane thing. No one should just be called in cold for what only would be a he said, she said farce... not allowing any more potential witnesses (from either side)….. it's just a sham. Of course when Anita Hill did testify, the Republicans took out their knives and did al they could to tear her apart. But they covered their asses regarding the process. Tried to look like they wanted to be fair and respectful. The Democrats though held the Senate, and yes Democratic help(22 senators) got Clarence Thomas in... but the Republicans pretended to respect decency and fair here. Now with a slim margin of control of the Senate and desperate to get a conservative Supreme Court majority at all costs, they let their true colors show. A conservative court, pardon the pun, trumps EVERYTHING. I wouldn't trust the word of most Republican "conservatives" today with anything... now the courts, after the midterms Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid "reform" because of course the budget has to be balanced and we have to watch spending though they pushed through over a trillion dollar tax cut and that looks set to blow a sky high hole in future revenues.

Forgive the rambling, but this Kavanaugh debacle represents the essential state of today's Republican right wing agenda driven politics... win at all costs and fuck what happens to the rest of us. And fuck what happens to what America represents and devolves into.
