X-Men:First Class

The trailer looks cool, but X3 really killed a lot of my love for the series. I'm just glad there's no Wolverine.

I hate how there's so much hate for X3 when the first one was rife with more issues than the third... Magneto pretending to be Sinister, Sabretooth as a trained housecat, Storm's heinous line of dialogue, Senator Kelly mutating, Changing Cody to David, Jean's trouble using Cerebro (a device she was trained on since she was a child)

I think the average movie goer doesn't care if a film interpretation veers away from the comic book definition of it's characters. And personally, I think it's cool to see something different then the same story repeated.

Whereas X3 was just lame.

I don't know the comics too well, but I do like Cyclops and don't like Wolverine as much, so any movie where Wolverine is the love interest when it was Scott in the comics kind of annoys me. Plus they killed Cyclops off so quickly.

I am hoping it is a bit Watchmen-esque.

I think that would be really cool, but I doubt it will go in that direction. Nevermind that I didn't really like the Watchmen movie as much as I was hoping I would like it.

I know this is going to sound foolish.... but I did not enjoy Watchmen. And I'm a DC guy! I thought it was slow and pretentious. It wasn't "fun" as comic book movies should be.

This movie has the most random mutants ever and they've fucked up the timeline/ages. What a mess.

Watchmen was going for something completely different then any other superhero movie. I loved the trade and the movie. In fact I just bought the directors cut with 28 extra minutes. Anyone read the Earth X, Universe X, Paradise X books? Those to me were fantastic. They were very smart how they intertwined the whole Marvel universe. I guess a very fat Wolverine was living with "Jean" and right b4 she left him she said something like I am not Jean I am Madelyn. I like the darker side to comics. I love when DC goes dark like a Kingdom Come story. Alex Ross really attached himself to great projects. Wonder why no one goes to him to consult on movies? Anyway, I am hoping this X-men movie has a few dark twists in it.

I loved Kingdom Come! I even somewhat enjoyed the sequel. They were both fun.

I'll have to rewatch Watchmen, but my lasting impression from my first viewing was that I loved the graphic novel a lot better. I don't remember the movie being as dark as the book, but perhaps it was and I'm just forgetting some details.

I'll have to check out all of those "X" books because I love dark stories. It's one of the reasons why I like the Thunderbolts, which can be dark at times.

Wasn't a fan of the sequel. Not to get off topic but check out "The World's Greatest Superheroes" by Alex Ross that just came out. It collects his large format books he did. And his "Justice" series was fantastic. Ok, sorry. offtopic:

There doesnt seem to be much intrest in this movie. I wonder why?

Is there a place where I can read the comics online? The actual comics from beginning to now.

Because it hasn't been promoted as heavily as it's predescessors.

Mere weeks before the trailer debuted. I was already complaining that we hardly know anything about the film, let alone haven't seen a trailer, and that's not always a good sign, when the release is less than 6 months away.

You could be right. I only learned of this movie a week or so ago. Normally the fan boys would have been chatting about it by now. You think maybe the studio has little hope for this film?

As far as I know, no. You can find some of the older issues at www.marvel.com if you look under Digital Comics, but I don't think it has the full collection, which would be huge. I think there were and are multiple X-Men comics right now.

Our roommate just found out about this movie today. He didn't know shit about it until today. Anyway, he is freaking out. He's pumped.

Trailer's got me on fire for this film. Prayin to baby jesus they don't fuck it up.
