For YEARS I've been trying to figure out how to keep my masculine lean physique while STILL being a Truck Driver...

Its almost an uphill battle...

But recently I decided that what could work REALLY WELL would be a bicycle -- it would keep me in shape -- and I'd have FUN while cruising around the different towns that I'm in each night -- you know, checking out all the "hole in the wall" bars and such... :D

For the last few days JAV12341 has been helping me find the PERFECT bike for me based on my criterion -- last night he finally came up with what he thought would be the right one...

TODAY -- I found myself in St Louis -- and Windsors came and rescued me for the evening from the truckstop -- he brought me to a local bike shop that had the EXACT bike in stock that Jav had told me about...

I LOVED IT!!! I've been riding around on it and laughing SO HARD that I feel like a little kid again... (!)

Here is a photo taken right before I left the bicycle shop...

THANKS Jav for all you help...

And ESPECIALLY thanks to WINDSORS for carting me all around town -- and then going bicycle riding with me AFTER DARK around ST. Louis!!! (!)

:):):)

I like it, swerve! ..|

I'm sure you're going to get a lot of fun use out of it.

Now you can say to guys at the bars, "You should see the Giant between my legs". :D

Lucky man you are. I forgot the last time I rode a bicycle --"

I mean, bicycles which don't have baskets in the front.

nice!

I've been dying to buy a bike so I can ride it to the train station instead of walking the mile and a half every day, but I have nowhere convenient to store it at my apartment :(

I actually called the shop EARLY in the morning and didn't get there until early evening -- I EXPLAINED to the sales lady about needing to keep the bike in a truck (MUCH smaller than a SMALL apartment )...

They actually held a small CONFERENCE about MY problem (with the truck)...

When she was showing me the different solutions they came up with -- she ALSO showed me CEILING hooks that you can HANG bikes from so that they are FLUSH with the walls..

Also -- WALL HOOKS that accomplish the same thing...

I SUSPECT that you actually DO HAVE the room to store a bike in your apt -- and maybe just don't realize how easily it can be accomplished..

:):):)

Sweet bike Swerve, I think that's the same one my roommate had. He liked it alot.

Personally I bike everywhere. I didn't feel the need to have a car in college but my bike got me everywhere I needed! Just be careful out there, especially biking to bars! For whatever reason I always felt like it was safe to bike home after a bar or party even if I was hammered. That is, until I crashed into a dumpster on the side of the road one night. Oops! (didn't get hurt or anything luckily)

Hey, maybe you can find some fat-bottomed girls to go riding with, swerve! :D

Bicycle races are coming your way
So forget all your duties oh yeah
Fat bottomed girls they'll be riding today
So look out for those beauties oh yeah
On your marks get set go! :gogirl:

Yay! for the new bike!

I've checked with the Powers that Be at the Retail Emporium! Here's a parsed version of the conversation I had with Management:

Me: 'I've got a friend coming to town. He wants to meet me after work so we can go to dinner. Can he park here at the Store overnight?'
LP: 'No problem, but we don't take responsibility for his car.'
Me: 'Well, his 'car' is a semi and I'm asking if he can park in our dock.'
LP: 'As long as I know and he's gone before you get your truck, there's no problem. But we still don't take responsibility.'
Me: 'Cool. I'll pass it on.'

So here's the deal: if you need to crash in my dock in the town you know where I work, let me know. And you can ride your new bike (it is considered one of the most bike friendly towns in the US) and crash there, but you need to leave by 9:30 AM if I'm getting a truck the next day!

(!)

Maybe you could get on of those transit bike carriers they have for the front of buses, and put it on your truck. That would be pretty cool

Nice bike, Swerve. Should keep you fit. make sure you get a good strong lock and chain and use it.

I bought a Rans bike, some years back. It's recumbent, which is to say the pedals are in front of you and you have a back to the seat. It's amazingly comfortable and you can really use your legs to pedal up hills. I'm surprised more bikes don't use this type of design.

I honestly cannot remember the last time I rode a bicycle :. I know they say you never forget how but...I just know I'd mess that law up for everyone.

Took me several tries to learn. Eventually my ex took me out to an empty industrial parking lot - after I'd had a few beers - and I relaxed enough to let the bike do the work. Within a few weeks I was biking around, and within a few months doing short errands on the bike.

My sense of balance is terrible, even after 6 years of cycling as my sole means of transportation (year-round) my starts and stops are still sometimes rough!

I CANNOT WAIT until the NEXT time I'm in Boulder!!!

I had SO MUCH FUN visiting with BOTH you and your partner...

And the BICYCLE adds JUST THAT MUCH MORE FUN to the MIX!!!

Thanks for checking with your "powers above" -- that would be a PERFECT place to park the truck!!!

I hope I get there SOON -- and that the weather abates...

That would be SUPER COOL!!! ..|

Nineofclubs has already told me how to use the bus bike carriers -- as I plan on using them OFTEN when in large metro areas...
