I think Australia is taking the cake when it comes to beautiful capital cities. Very nice.

Great Architecture down under. Then again, it's a young country.

I was pleased to see Sofia, Bulgaria, too, though.

This has been a great geography lesson.

Albany is a state capital with gov't buildings. Nelson Rockefeller's dream for a state capital. Wasn't a major metropolitan city before, isn't after.

Nice shot - that's from the castle at the top of the Royal Mile?

My son spent a semester there and loved it. His room was just outside Arthur's Boot.

South Africa has three national capital cities:

Pretoria (executive capital) - Sometimes considered as "the" capital city of South Africa. Government and commercial centre.

Johannesburg is sometimes regarded (unofficially) as the commercial capital, and houses our highest court - the Constitutional Court. It's the capital city of Gauteng; South Africa's largest city in it's smallest province.

I couldn't find any decent pics of the stadiums being built for the Soccer World Cup 2010, some of which are in our capital cities. Most of them are artist renders or show the stadiums under construction. Pity, because the stadiums are stunning.

I'll try photos for Adelaide. I had trouble before.
