Awwww man, I could SO be on the beach right now...

OK. I almost asked that question, since I do know about our 5 borough/county city. I like your Turtle Bay inclusion - hopefully all will receive it in the spirit intended. Nice shots of Peter Stuyvesant's old town, any way you slice it.

Geneva, Switzerland get Vice Capital honours for the UN Europe seat?

Ozguy, may I just say this is an amazing idea for a thread. It's the one that I make sure I check each time I log on now!!

I don't think my poor Melbourne has been represented.

I may be a new Brisbanite, but I was Melbournian for 20 years, so here it is:

MELBOURNE, VICTORIA, AUSTRALIA

Again, pics from Wikipedia.

And then the national capital - Ottawa

People skating on the Rideau Canal in winter, with I believe Chateau Laurier in the background. It's been a while.

There hasn't been a new post all week. I am keeping this thread alive. Ozguy, forgive the slight breach in rules - this is not my capital city, but I want it to be my capital city.

I passed through Hartford before.

it's a beautiful city. :D

well...from the interstate at least.

It's actually one of the rougher parts of the state...but it was always cool driving into it...trees..trees..trees..OMG a city!..LOL

It;s been a long time since I last visited central Connecticut.
New England, while not that far away from upstate, is sometimes a world away. Each little town/village/city is like it's own little feifdom, 6-10 miles between them but seemingly separated by great vast expanses.

Meanwhile, Upstate has major cities every 60 miles or so down the "pike", with expanded suburbs that stretch for miles around the cities, themselves.
Every town has its own identity, to be sure, but the whole feeling is grossly different.

Hartford has been undergoing a huge change in the last 20 years. Dying in manufacturing - Cooper Industries/Arrow-Hart pulling out in favour of Mexico, Bussman going Pacific Rim.

I remember on the outskirts, seeing the lone, tall tower in the dunes that is the Otis Test Elevator facility, nearby the (then) fairly new monster satellite dishes that identified this fledgling cable company called ESPN.

Now I understand that one of your nearby towns is home to a new roll-forming facility for stud steel.

CO, yes.
Denver, no.

But since it is the capitol of the state in which I live...
