It's been three years since Fleet Foxes' eponymous debut full-length, a record that was not only beloved by its fans, but was helpful in making copious harmonies the indie rock zeitgeist in 2008. The trickle into lo-fi with muted vocals and much that is more dank or electronic petered harmonies out. Emerging from there is "Helplessness Blues"—dripping with Simon & Garfunkel influence, even down to the lyrics, from romance to orchard work, the story told most emotively through the vocals. Their album, also titled Helplessness Blues, comes out May 3 on Sub Pop/Bella Union and should likely become your late night summer standby. They'll head out on April 30 to Vancouver to start a North American theater tour, as well.

This is great because I just recently saw "White material" and was so moved by the score.

You can safely call the music of the orchestral British band Tindersticks "cinematic" without fear of rock-critic cliché. That's because Tindersticks have worked with the French director Claire Denis since the mid-90s. The band has scored four of Denis' films and two members of the band, Stuart A. Staples and Dickon Hinchliffe, have scored one apiece (L'Intrus and Vendredi Soir, respectively). On April 26, Constellation will release the Tindersticks box set Claire Denis Film Scores 1996-2009, a collection of all six of their Denis soundtracks.

The set includes scores for the following Denis films: 1996's Nenette Et Boni, 2001's Trouble Every Day, 2002's Vendredi Soir, 2004's L'Intrus, 2008's 35 Rhums, and 2009's White Material. The four scores made since 2002 are being released for the first time. The box is available in CD and LP formats, and they include a 48-page booklet with film stills and an essay from music writer Michael Hill.

New Strokes single is kinda meh.

I dig the sound of the new Cut Copy album, just not really the songs, so far anyway.

The new Fujiya and Miyagi, Ventriloquizing, is pretty cool though. I prefer it to their last record.

Album: Build a Rocket Boys!
Release Date: March 7, 2011

Always one of the UK’s most loved and influential bands,'The Seldom Seen Kid' saw Elbow become one of its most successful, winning the Mercury Music Prize album of the year in 2008 with the band being voted Best British Band at The BRITS in 2009. The band also picked up an NME Award, a South Bank Show prize for Best Album and the Mojo Best Track Award for ‘One Day Like This’ which also garnered an Ivor Novello alongside a second Ivor for ‘Grounds For Divorce’.

Following the immense success of the double platinum selling 'The Seldom Seen Kid',and produced by the band’s Craig Potter, ‘Build A Rocket Boys!’ continues one of the most intriguing and heart warming stories in British music.

After listening to the new PJ Harvey, and Radiohead coming in two days, this is my new most anticipated!
