The Florida numbers are very disturbing.
But frankly, not surprising from what we’ve seen in Florida since the beginning.

91% of the adult population partially vaccinated, with 83% fully vaccinated. Including 12-15 Yr old, 75 % of that cohort partially vaccinated. Yet case numbers hovering between 1,500 and 2,000 per day, which in the overall global context is very insignificant. However here, they are relatively high numbers. But, hospitalizations and ICU cases are a fraction of those witnessed in the 'third wave' witnessed last winter/spring, thankfully.

Wow they talk fast. The idea is to make the pandemic manageable for the 1st world. You know, reducing people being miserable and dying just another day at the office, not a threat to sheet balances and political comfort.
Today is the day that the Spanish PM set as the deadline for 70% of immunization for the whole population: obviously, it failed, but it seems to have been achieved for the part that has been vaccinable, the above 12
Well, the US is learning a hard lesson that this year's virus is not the same as last year's virus, particularly for the unvaccinated. That higher viral load in the new variants means that a lot of the younger people (and children) who were assumed to get mild or asymptomatic cases, are getting acute COVID-19 symptoms and are filling up the hospitals....They are making a big deal of young people not caring about anti-covid rules, but nobody spoke like that of all the elder who died last winter after having saved Christmas revelries.
If Spain is anything like the US, the elderly people who got the vaccines are laying low and choosing good health over jello shots and eurodisco.

US health officials and medical experts announced in a joint statement on Wednesday that booster doses of Covid-19 vaccine will be offered this fall, subject to authorization from the US Food and Drug Administration and sign off from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
"We are prepared to offer booster shots for all Americans beginning the week of September 20 and starting 8 months after an individual's second dose," US health officials, including CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky and FDA Acting Commissioner Dr. Janet Woodcock, said in the statement.
It's official. You will be eligible for your 3rd shot 8 months after your second dose. So, if you got your second dose in March, you should plan to get your third dose in November. It's probably good timing since we seem to see surges after holidays. By boosting antibodies before the holidays, we may lessen the post-holiday surge.

Good deal. I got my second shot March 30. I guess we should all be getting flu shots in September or October? Yes?
