As it is, I don't visit the other forums (besides Hot Topics) as often as I probably should. I'm afraid if interesting topics in science and so forth get segregated there, I would miss them completely. And Hot Topics would get even fluffier than it is already.

I like the way the no-flame zone works for the Coming Out forum, but I can't think of a lot of other stuff that belongs there. Androgyny, maybe, if people want that. Especially if you could think of a name for it that would include the guys at the other end of the spectrum.

Science, because it can definitely attract a considerable following by itself....there is a lot of interest here in science or technology topics already in Hot Topics,so it doesn't really need time for testing its appeal.

I like caryeverwood's suggestion about incorporating lifestyle trends, travel, fashion, into one lifestyle forum...I think that has great possibilities for catching on..we don't need too many cluttering forums when several related areas can form a very appealling lifestyle forum.

Like the idea of some topics not currently in the no-flame zone that are intended as serious discussions that the originator wants to keep relevant and free of frivolity and some other website. You can always disagree without being disagreeable,so there would be no need to resort to flaming to make for a challenging ,probing and informative thread in that area,

Finally,a military thread is as relevant now as ever, and if there needs to be a short testing period to see it can sustain interest in the broad community here(it will be no flame as well)....it would be a nice present to greet stevenavy when he returns here in the late fall, and our servicepeople sure deserve a thread where they can discuss experiences, common bonds, military history and terminologies that can inform and educate the broad JUB civilian population as well. That would be my other thread preference.

I went with "other".

I would like to see an open forum to talk about some the interests and concerns of the older folks in our community, including myself. There are topics like retirement, housing, travel, finances and many other things which may offer some interesting discussions and, just maybe, help dispel some of the elder prejudice that, all too often, shows up on JUB.

I brought the idea up to the powers a year ago and was politely but firmly told that some other time might be more appropriate.

I see the travel option has gathered broad support, and I think best it would work as part of a "Travel and Lifestyle" thread that incorporates all areas of lifestyle and cultural trends,it may work standing alone but having it encompass a broader scope allows diverse lifestyle oriented possiblities, like home decorating, fashion, dining, many different and appealing subjects that would gather interest.

While they'd all be really useful and fun, I think a Gender Identity forum should be added first to provide a No-Flame place for those members. It's only fair that Androgyny be given the same treatment as Gay and Bisexual.

When I first started this poll I thought I might vote for the Adrogyny Forum as I thought it would be very important to give that segment of JUBbers here that outlet. There definitely are some transgendered people on this board. However, over the course of the discussion in this thread, I think now that best idea is a no-flame "other" category.

I do think that JUB is very fractured and I can see collapsing some of the forums into each other, but it's hard to take away forums unless they're a resounding failure.

I meant to click "Travel" but accidentally clicked "Other" - maybe you could change that, Zeremonie.

Sorry. I don't have the ability to do that. I don't even know if an admin can or not, but I'd try submitting a support ticket if I were you.

I voted for the science forum, but I like the idea of a travel forum too!!

My god! I can't believe science is the forerunner at this point! I would pick it just because that is where my primary interests are. I had no idea other people were that interested in it!

Yea for a science forum,a travel/lifestyle forum,military forum,and forum oriented to Jubbers 40 and over!..|

^ I can see books being a subforum of Music & Entertainment.

C'mon guys! Vote early! :D

lots of interesting suggestions :)
i don't mind any of them ^_-
but i hope it won't become too difficult to navigate
a science forum would be nice though!
i always like reading those topics ~ 'specially the ones on astronomy!
hmm.. a no-flames zone sounds like a nice idea as well!
and the transgendered people here definitely deserve their own place too ..|
a pets forum sounds awesome.. though i'm not sure what i'd write :o
oww.. and we need an Elvin forum, to discuss all things Elvin :p

I voted for travel. We come from all over and many of us have traveled all over. We can give advise to other's who will be travelling to where we live or have been.

I know we have a few favorite website threads. But how about putting a new Forum space (thread) up so that we can lump them all together. One part for "favorite porn websites", and the other half for "favorite non-porn websites" . That way you won't have three or for different threads, in different parts of the forum, on the same subject.
