A very sad day in America....

Joshua can speak for his own reasoning, but hearing a term like "Hickory Sticks" conjures the image of artificial smoke flavoring, and Slim Jims abound in that.
Yeah, that's sort of where my mind was going...

Neil, ^these^ are "Slim Jim's", and they are absolutely disgusting.

Imagine a sort of cold and greasy sausage link with a salty, smokey flavor and a chewy texture.

They appeal to mostly very young teenage boys, but some adults like them, too.

Yuck.

I don't know what Slim Jim's are, so we're sort of even.

Think of Hickory Sticks as long, skinny French Fries, cooked crispy like potato chips, and seasoned with a strong, hickory-smoke flavour. They're very tasty if you like hickory.

They look like what we call 'pepperettes', sort of a mini pepperoni. They're soft like a sausage and really quite tasty (but a bit greasy). Sam, our dog, used to love them.

I love the refrigerator and oven. ..|

Today would be my mom's birthday, so I'm remembering her in many ways today.

She HATED that Ann Blyth Twinkie commercial! She thought Ann was overemoting. "FRESHNESS...never TASTED...SO good!"

There really wasn't much else on TV she hated. John Madden...and that's about it.

Thanks for the memory!
