Re: Idol Gives Back

Mariah's was so freakin awesome. Carrie's was fantastic as usual. And I liked Miley Cyrus' second performance, of 'See You Again.' 'Good and Broken' was okay.

The travesty that is American Idol

I can't fucking believe they sent home Carly Smithson.

The two people who LEAST deserved to be in the bottom two tonight, were in fact the bottom two. Carly and Syesha Mercado kicked ASS last night, and they ended up being the ones with the least amount of votes.

By all accounts, it should have been Brooke and that talentless and personality-free Jason Castro. Brooke's stumble at the beginning of her song caused her to tense up and she never relaxed or recovered. Jason is just boring. Same shit, each week. No range. No difference in his performances. And when he's interviewed, he sounds as dumb as a bag of hair.

The voting process is severely flawed. Text voting is allowed only by AT&T wireless subscribers, putting everyone else at a disadvantage of having to call the toll free numbers that are frustratingly engaged. They should allow internet voting, but for some reason don't allow it.

I am getting increasingly frustrated at this show as each year it becomes the same popularity contest while the real talent is dumped. If Jason Castro or Brooke White win this year, I will never again set my eyes on Fox during another American Idol broadcast.

Re: The travesty that is American Idol

I agree 100% but we've just been handed a Double David finale. And I am not happy about it at all.

Carly was easily Top 3 material! But we all know this is a popularity contest. And they wonder why ratings are slipping.

Re: The travesty that is American Idol

The show is what it is...there's no getting around it. However, it's the voters who are flawed. They're the ones keeping that pot head Jason on the show.

Barring another shocking elimination, we're definitely getting a battle of the Davids in the finale. Carly was undoubtedly the most talented female there. Compared to both Davids, she was far superior when it came to range. David Archuleta is good, but struggles with anything that's not Stevie Wonder-esque. He has the potential but not the experience. David Cook is arrogant and unoriginal and so full of himself that he's about to explode. Yes, he's talented, but we've seen it before.

That being said, at least this will lend some interest to the finale. If Carly had stayed, she wouldn't have stood a chance against either of the Davids. If, by chance, one of them is eliminated before the finale, no one else would stand a chance against the remaining one. At least now the finale shouldn't be a landslide.

Re: The travesty that is American Idol

I agree Carly is awesome!!!! I will always love her first album!!!

Re: The travesty that is American Idol

i hope she does well here in the us, i definetly wanna see/hear more from hear and syesha, and maybe david cook

but the rest i just really cant stand

Re: The travesty that is American Idol

I think that, unfortunately, because of her song choice, which for the educated was amazing, for the unknowing was sacrilege. They don't know Sir Webber's music and didn't understand the song. They must have felt she was being anti-christ. Too bad, cause that performance rocked the house.

Re: The travesty that is American Idol

Personally, I'm glad Carly is gone because the show is supposed to be for people who have never been signed by a record company before. Carly has already put out a CD before, and it totally flopped. I don't even think 10,000 copies sold, when MCA spent $2 Million to promote it...:mad:

Carly wasn't the only one that had a deal and released cds as well. Hell Kristy Lee was signed by Britney Spears.

The only people to not have a record deal before and release a cd in the Top 12 are David H, Syesha, Ramiele and Amanda.

Every single other contestant has.

Re: The travesty that is American Idol

Just shows you how ridiculous this show is at actually rewarding truly talented singers. The top five are all SO boring!

I wish both Faux-Rocker David and Stepford Kid David would just go away.

Re: The travesty that is American Idol

I cant believe it either, i thought carly would be in the final 3 at least! i get the same feeling from jason as i did kristy lee cook, "why are they here?" feeling. syesha is a great singer but she doesnt stand really stand out. i like brooke but i was sad about her performance yesterday and i was somewhat surprised she wasnt even in the bottom 2. i dont understand david cooks appeal, but whatever, i think he will be in the final 3 at least. if he wins it wont make sense to me because i feel like he would attract the same fanbase as daughtry did and i thought me was way better. i think archuleta will win, he doesnt have the best voice but it is soothing and he is adorable, maybe too adorable though. too bad he wasnt a little more grown.

Re: The travesty that is American Idol

I can't really see someone on this show being as popular as Daughtery or Carrie Underwood. I think that it might be another Taylor Hicks show.

I think that they need to change the set-up of the voting, so that it is not entirely in the hands of "America". I think that they should do something along the lines of Dancing with the Stars voting system. Judges have a say in the voting.

Re: The travesty that is American Idol

For me, personally, Carly's going home is actually the first and only good thing to come of the show since Top 24. Girl can definitely sing, but damn is her ego big - it comes through in her singing. If she wants another return, she's going to need a lot of humble pie, and actually SING A SONG, not showcase herself.

Re: The travesty that is American Idol

Thats two weeks in a row one of my faves was voted off. Yes, I liked Kristy lol. So now, the only one left for me is Syesha. When she gets the boot, I'm totally losing all faith in this show. David Cook just needs to....he just....go away you unoriginal, smug, arrogant, prick!

Re: The travesty that is American Idol

Anytime anybody starts a thread wondering what the hell happened on American Idol, it means American Idol did something correctly.

Who said I was wondering? I was ranting. :p

Re: The travesty that is American Idol

Brooke is my fave this season. I hope if she does not win she still stays with the industry.

Re: The travesty that is American Idol

yeah, i hear he's doing a show in front of another housing development. no sound equipment or anything just a fisher-price "my first karaoke" kit. no stage but i think he's gonna bring a cardboard box to stand on

That would have to be one hell of a strong cardboard box.
