I honestly do think it might be better that David A didn't win. He will have less pressure on him this way and will have more time to mature as an artist.

Most of the music I listen to is rock so David Cook is definitely my favorite winner.

Absolutely love Kelly Clarkson, also a big Carrie Underwood fan. I am liking David Cook, so I am sure I will love his cd whenever it comes out

i pretty much agree with you except im not a fantasia fan.. I love me some kelly clarkson and of course carrie underwood. this season was bittersweet because i loved amanda so much, but i think david cook deserved the win, he is very talented. to make things better im going to see amanda in concert saturday! yay!

I second the Amanda sentiments. America let me down by letting Melissa McGhee go far too early in season 5, too.

That said, I don't think any Idol winner (or contestant, for that matter) can touch Kelly Clarkson... not even Carrie, who is virtually unknown outside America, while Kelly remains popular and liked internationally.

ljhotboy...I really don't understand why you post so much in every American Idol thread when everything you say is pretty negative against every aspect of the show....if you hate it so much...why watch...and why discuss it so much? not meaning to start an argument...just wondering really...If I hated something I wouldn't spend all my time on a forum discussing it

Honestly, I like all of them a bit except Taylor. He has stage presence, but just isn't that good on CD.(Note, this is from reliable sources, I didn't waste money on the CD)

IMO, the majority of the Idols that have broken out into the music business, not necessarily the ones that won, have talent. And for the ones not in the music business, I believe I heard about a few of them doing Broadway.

I've seen that act before many, many times. But she looked and sounded the part so she sold like hotcakes.
And if they didn't sell so well like Reuben it was because they were boring. I think David Cook will follow the first path.
I guess I'd have to say Kelly Clarkson is the only winner I semi-liked. Until she botched her career by trying to be more edgy, lol.

I disagree. I think 'Breakaway' was a great album but I prefer her doing the soul/lite R&B stuff.

I disagree with that as well. That's what she was known for on Idol. She only did soul/R&B stuff and she was amazing. Her first cd was awesome! Her voice really carries that style of music well.

I totally agree. I haven't even heard of Carrie or any other American Idol winner except for Kelly Clarkson who is known worldwide and whom ive seen perform in concert. While i may not listen to her music as much as i used to when i was totally into her, i still think she has a great voice and could go even further, just stick to what she knows best when she did 'Breakaway' as that album was awesome.

To be honest, as much as I dug "Breakaway," I loved her "My December" tracks most. While the album didn't sell well, I think it was a great achievement for her artistically. She tried something new, something edgier, something more personal, something she could grow with and I respect her most for that. With Alanis, Tori, and Sheryl becoming less prominent in the music scene today, I think it's time Kelly brings the chick rock genre back, despite what Clive Davis may tell her.

Just because an album goes multi-platinum doesn't mean it's any good... just take a look at the charts now.
