American Idol: Season 10

^I cant say I entirely disagree either. But J-lo is such a skank the way she was mouthing the words when Stefano was singing, like a damn Justin Bieber fan. She's a ho for sure. lol. But if I was shacked up with Marc Anthony I'd get moist over Stefano too.

LMAO!:rotflmao: So true! Marc Anthony looks like a damn vampire, and not the sexy True Blood/Twilight kind.

I have to confess I'm really going to miss Karen's Imelda Marcos drag queen look...

I'll kind of miss looking forward to how she can awkwardly slip a verse of Spanish lyrics into each of her performances.

I was sure she was going to sing a Gloria Estefan song or something this week. When she picked Taylor Dayne and claimed that she didn't want to be known as "the girl who sings in Spanish," I had hope... and then, random Spanish passage halfway through. I actually laughed when it happened.

Now, my real question is: how many girls will be left by the time a guy is sent home? I remember the top 7 last year was 5 guys and Crystal/Siobhan due to the powerful voting bloc of tween girls/middle-aged housewives. I'm betting on at least Haley going before the first guy, and Naima wouldn't surprise me either. Thia and Lauren might be safe for awhile since they're teens and the tween girls seem to respond more favorably to younger females (see also: Baby Caw Iraheta two seasons ago).

Yeah, I also thought that was pretty funny. She's actually not such a bad singer, but she's been getting terrible advice from somebody. Those old-looking outfits, and then trying to position herself as the Official Latina Candidate. You'd think being in the bottom 3 last week would have given her a clue she was doing something wrong...

And yeah, there's been a definite lack of female winners the last few years. I think all these tweens are voting for their dream date, whether he can sing or not. I think Paul & Jacob are the most vulnerable guys, but I agree, at least one more girl is going to go first...

I think Lauren should have gone home before Karen. It was a sad week.

Glad Karen is gone.

Was sick of her very rough bilingual performances.

1: You shouldn't have a competition with multiple languages of singing. The words are formed differently, sound different, and flow differently.

2: Bilingual singing should be done carefully, otherwise it is jarring and difficult to listen to. The typical bilingual music I listen to is so smoothly done you hardly notice. Hers was like it was going through a translator that kept flipping back and forth.

I also won't miss the beauty pageant feel she brought to the stage most of the time.

^^ This. Totally fucking yes.

Do we even need to go through the next two weeks? Haley will be eliminated next followed by Naima. I feel bad for Haley cuz her "Blue" performance was lovely, she hit every note, and she didn't get the due credit for it. Teen girl texters have taken over this show and if the producers ever want a female winner again, they're gonna have to stack the Top 13 themselves...with all women.

In other words...beware Pia. You're guaranteed a Top 2 spot but you're likely to lose to whichever guy is standing there with you (James? Stefano? Scotty?) -- just ask Crystal Bowersox.

I mean fucking Paul hasn't even been in the Bottom Three yet!

They're gonna have to stack the Top 13 themselves...with all women.

In that case, the one who looks the most like a prepubescent teen boy wins because the tweens and frau will throw their votes of confusion at her.

That or the one who can sing the most like a man who has his testicles caught in a vice, a la Lambert or Durbin.

The pro-male bias on Idol for the last few years has been so bad that I legitimately wonder if Kelly would beat Justin or Carrie would beat Bo (even though her winning was when I stopped taking this show seriously) if those seasons took place today.

Yeah, how come everytime I've seen footage of Marc Anthony filming something, promoting something, or visiting some event, he's slinking around in the dark glasses and turning away from people with the body language? I always think he thinks he's being "mysteriously sexy" but he just comes off looking creepy. Vampire-like, indeed.

J-Lo is gorgeous enough to get any man, and that's the top pick?! Yeesh. Yeah, I'm sure Stefano has the stamina to keep goin' all night so it's no wonder she's into him. I'm reminded one of my Italian-American jock friends who used to enjoy boasting about his "big Italian sausage" pleasing the girls, lol. :D

umfg I actually quite liked Karen. :(

Haley and Stefano though <3

Okay people I do not see what the big deal with Naima is she can not sing either yes her story is compelling and so is stephanos but who gives a fuck! I just want to know if someone can sing that is it! Regardless if one of them does win there popularity will not last long i mean look at ruben where is he now lol? Anywho its not all america who decides who wins the producers have the final say.

Stefano's story isn't exactly compelling when he was arrested on charges of a DUI. That he pleaded guilty to the lesser charge only means it was probably a plea deal. I've learned more about plea deals than I care to.

You plea to this, get this lesser charge. Don't, and we have to waste time on you and will pursue the full charge.

As for Naima, her story is fairly routine on American Idol. Stories are hardly the reason I back someone.

No, it is my musically trained ear that leads me to back someone. It is my desire to see talent that isn't another Pop/Country hit. It is my desire to see her talent not flying over the heads of the viewers of this show. It is beyond frighting that Justin f-ing Bieber can be famous, but people say she has no talent.

And who the fuck cares about Ruben anymore? No one from that season made it. The only two that have truly experienced expected or beyond expected success from winning are Kelly and Carrie.

Nobody cared about Ruben once he was off screen.

Fantasia did have success, but not what she went on Idol for. At least her voice is more refined now than it was then.

Taylor Hicks was a VFTW victory of epic porpotions and they are the only ones who care about him now. The only one that even registers for me of that season is Chris Daughtry. He actually went somewhere and I hear about it.

Jordin Sparks...last I heard from her was her final performance on the show.

David Cook I hear is having some success. They say Archuleta is, but I'd venture to guess it is about as much talent-based as his show run was.

Kris Allen (Archuleta 2.0) I know even less about. Adam Lambert is the one succeeding there.

Lee DeWyze...who cares? Who cares about anyone from last season?

Also, courtesy of the Billboard Charts, winner and runner up albums sales (I believe it was the first week of sales):

2010
No. 19, Lee DeWyze, "Live It Up" (39,000)
(I had to format that and Crystal is not mentioned)

2009
No. 11, Kris Allen, “Kris Allen” (80,000)
No. 3, Adam Lambert, “For Your Entertainment” (198,000)

2008
No. 3, David Cook, “David Cook” (280,000)
No. 2, David Archuleta, “David Archuleta” (183,000)

2007
No. 10, Jordin Sparks, “Jordin Sparks” (119,000)
No. 10, Blake Lewis, “Audio Day Dream” (98,000)

2006
No. 2, Taylor Hicks, “Taylor Hicks” (298,000)
No. 2, Katharine McPhee, “Katharine McPhee” (116,000)

2005
No. 2, Carrie Underwood, “Some Hearts” (315,000)
No. 4, Bo Bice, “The Real Thing” (227,000)

2004
No. 8, Fantasia, “Free Yourself” (240,000)
No. 52, Diana DeGarmo, “Blue Skies” (47,000)

2003
No. 1, Ruben Studdard, “Soulful” (417,000)
No. 1, Clay Aiken, “Measure of a Man” (613,000)

2002
No. 1, Kelly Clarkson, “Thankful” (297,000)
No. 20, Justin Guarini, “Justin Guarini” (57,000)

You can look at the numbers and see why Justin, Ruben, Diana, Blake, Jordin, Kris, and Lee aren't mentioned often. When the show ended and reality hit, they didn't hold up. They found out that winning the show means little anymore.

So, truthfully, Naima would probably find best success in second place, as Adam Lambert did.

But it pisses me off when you say she can't sing simply because you don't like her. Even more if you are one of those saying that because you don't find her attractive/like how she looks. What the fuck do her armpits have to do with a damn thing?

(Also, why the hell is the words a*mpits turning into a link?)

Oh, that's right, NOTHING. If it bugs you, look at something else and just listen. Close your eyes. Not that hard.

I've been trained in music for years. My ears are attuned to it naturally, and have been trained. So when people support someone that hurts my ears more than my cats' ears, but say someone who is good and original is terrible and can't sing, it makes me want to tune their ears like a violin or piano because something is amiss.

When I don't like someone, I explain why. I don't act like there is no talent in there. I acknowledge they can sing but I don't like it and move on! If they have a good voice and need training, that's what I say!

:grrr:Frustrating!:grrr:

Crystal's album outsold Lee's... which isn't exactly saying much since her album did horribly too.

Kris did fine compared to Lee. He actually had a hit from his album. "Live Like We're Dying" sold just as much as "Whataya What from Me," which is Lambert's most successful single in sales so far.

I love Kris Allen's album! I bought it on it's first day out. My husband bought Adam Lambert's. But after listening to them both, I think we both prefer Kris' album.

I hope Stefano makes it far enough in the competiton to release an album! Not so much for music. I just want an album jacket full of pictures.

slipintothefog and FanofFiction are right, Kris actually had a mainstream/popular video hit with "Live Like We're Dying." His album as a whole though was not great but the truth is, I've never been impressed by a full album (yet) by an Idol alum. Not even Kelly Clarkson's Breakaway, which is still the gold standard as far as full length Idol albums are concerned.

"Live Like We're Dying" sold just as much as "Whataya What from Me," which is Lambert's most successful single in sales so far.
You are ignoring international sales. "Whataya Want from Me" has sold over 2 million copies worldwide. Also "If I Had You" has sold over a million copies worldwide. Kris had no successful follow-up singles after "Live Like We're Dying" and he could not go on a headlining world tour like Adam did.

I only provided initial sales. What those don't show is the longer successes of Adam Lambert and Kris Allen, or lack of successes.

Lambert has kept things going. Far as I can tell, Kris has not. At least, not in anything close to what Adam has achieved.
