American Idol: Season 10

Yeah, he reminds me of Adam Lambert quite a bit... and I hate Adam Lambert. I was a Kris Allen fan from the getgo that season. I called Kris as a winner after seeing White Chocolate during group week!

This year, I have yet to declare a winner. I'm not really feeling the talent this year. But I'm loving the judges!

James Durbin is nowhere near as talented as Adam Lambert. I can't see James releasing music from a major record label, going on world tour and getting a Grammy nomination like Adam. I think him as more of a male Siobhan Magnus , but he's not even as good as her.

OMG, I was laughing at the "vocal coach from hell" segment near the start of last night's episode. There's a 1-minute clip of it here if you missed it.

Although, anyone who has done any music master classes might recognize a lot of the "tough love" techniques there she's trying to use as motivators when being gentle might not be working ("C'mon, are you a singer or not? SING!", "C'mon, just PROVE ME WRONG. I'm waiting! I'll happily eat crow!") - it's just they were edited together out of context out of maybe an hour's session of her working with them. Very funny stuff though. :)

I liked last night's episode - nice to hear the contestants take on some Beatles songs. The one group that switched over to "Hello Goodbye" I thought made a great choice - it was much more of a fit and I liked how they staged it.

I think that the guys are gonna be stronger than the girls this year.

But I think that Colton Dixon should have made it through instead of the tourette's version of Adam Lambert.

What the HELLLLLLLLSSSS was Lauren Alayna wearing during the last judging?!

^I think the opposite. The guys are pretty forgettable. Not that the girls are that remarkable either. I dunno. I'm rooting for the hot guy who was in a car accident and that little red headed gay.

LOL! That'd be Stefano Langone and Brett Loewenstern, respectively. And I think Stefano is smokin' hot (love his dark hair/eyes, that skin tone and his nice build), so I hope he sticks around for a while. ..| Brett has a lot of good energy and stage presence and unbridled enthusiasm so I'm hoping he's around for a bit too.

I love Paul mcdonald!

<3

This season was so emotional! omg I actually felt really sad for those contestant that didnt make it!

I love Season 10 SO much

I am saddened by some of these artists. I hate Scott McCreery, James Durbin, and Brett Lowenstern. Sad to see these guys get through.

Casey Abrams is so talented and versatile and I am happy he made the 24. Also, Jovanny abs looked great. Tim Halperin is also a hot talented guy.

Yeah, I think this will be a great season. I think some got through who didn't deserve it, but a lot who made it are very talented.

I think Casey will be my vote, though.

I read I believe yesterday or the day before...Casey was rushed to the hospital with stomach pains...so let's hope he's feeling better by the Live Show or he'll most likely be replaced

This season, in my opinion, started well with auditions.

They hit hollywood, and tanked. They made one mistake right after the other leading to a terrible top 24 selection when considering the voices and talents available.

So far the only part of hollywood I liked was the "vocal coach from hell" as Ryan or whoever put it.

Which, btw, I think they should not have shown as they did. They should have begged her to stay on. I have a feeling she could take the (NOT)top 24 and make them better instead of babying them. Because babying them has worked SO WELL in the past. Ugh.

And the whole 15 age limit thing is a mistake and that will never change.

Look at some of what we almost got stuck with. Look at what we did wind up with.

The guys are entirely forgettable and only a few of the girls will remain in memory past the perfomance night.

Oh, and Beatles night was a mess. Some were good, some were called good when they weren't, inflating their egos and belief in sub-par singing.

I think we can sum the biggest problem up easily: People who forgot their lyrics AT LEAST once were put to the top 24. Tatynisa Wilson, who stumbled her way through "I Hope You Dance" with almost entirely incorrect lyrics, made it.

Scotty McCreery also forgot lyrics to the same song, but there he sits because of his deep voice. I suppose because he gives people thoughts of Josh Turner.

Or how about Thia's performance of "You Raise Me Up" at the end there. Her phrasing was identical in each short run, even if the words changed. She did nothing to show off her voice or validate being kept in the top 24, and they didn't care.

Oh, here's another: The Stage Moms. Talk about hypocrisy. They proclaim trying to keep it fair and turn around and allow the young ones who don't belong to be coached by their moms. I agree with whomever it was that spoke out against that.

There is also the Facebook voting. Instead of getting their heads on straight about the voting issue, they add 50 Facebook votes to further inflate the popularity whichever contestant the various groups (with no concern to singing ability) fall to.

And, didn't they say no theme nights AND no instruments? So much for that. Casey Abrams has used his instrument to propel him forward. So they still don't remember this was a singing competition, not musician. On top of that, they have a Beatles theme night before we even get to the top 24. Doesn't help that it didn't go well. At least not to my ears trained by the original musicians. There was too much praise over too much mediocrity.

I could go on and on, but there's just too much.

Disaster. Such a pity, with such a good start.

(Oh, and before you start, no I can't sing. However, I am classically trained in Violin and Piano and through that have an ear for tone and other musical elements from the years of training.)

I love theme nights. And I like when the singers get to play instruments. As much as I love great voices, I'm also a fan of great guitarists and pianists. In fact, I'd love to see a fiddler on there!

Kigan, what do you really think? You're so shy with the opinions. :D But really, I enjoyed reading that analysis.

And, didn't they say no theme nights AND no instruments? So much for that.

For the instruments question, apparently they're just "restricted" - Nigel Lythgoe's tweeted: "AI contestants will still be able to play instruments just not every week. “Playing” a guitar is totally different from “hiding” behind it."

I am not at all against people who can sing and play instruments. Casey is a prime example of great talent with his voice and the instruments he plays. I am happy to read he is a fav among so many people, and I am very sorry he is not well at this time.
