Loving this finale so far, oh my god. So much more entertaining than last night's country lullabies, I'm sure.
 
I know right? That was actually the first time I've seen them perform since Lisa died. So... surreal.
 
Beyonce showed more passion, emotional connection and technical skill in that great performance of one medicore song than Scotty, Lauren and Jennifer Lopez showed in all their performances all season long combined.

Of course Lauren is probably backstage all, "What's make love?"

How so? He is a polite, respectful, young man with perfect manners and genuine humility and a great classic country voice. It may not be everyones cup of tea but that does not an asshole make. He won on singing and singing alone. He didn't wear strange clothes or use pyrotechnics or do anything flashy he just sang songs his way and a majority of Americans that voted like him the best. My personal favorite was James Durbin who added a bit of excitement to the show but the majority of Americans that voted preferred Scotty so I respect their decision. If/when James records an album I will absolutely buy it. I might not buy Scotty's music but he is a good kid and I wish him well.
 
Best performances of the night belonged to Casey/Jack Black and Haley/Tony Bennet...

Of course they do but they have to win the most votes to do it. IF the people that win the votes happen to be white males so be it. If they are a black male or female so be it. If they are a white female or a Hispanic female so be it. It really comes down to who America likes and votes for. The black guy that made into the final ten was not the best singer by any stretch and made it a lot further than some of the more talented contestants like Pia. What difference does it make what the sex or race of the winner is? As long as the vote isn't rigged and the person that America picks wins it is all fair.

He's correctly referring to the fact that this show has changed ever since power-texting became a factor. Since teen girls tend to power text en masse for the white cute boy they fancy at the moment, that absolutely does affect the outcome. Since power-texting, we've had four white male winners that were popular with teen girls: David Cook, Kris Allen, Lee Dewyze and Scotty McCreery.

It's so glaring a problem that Nigel Lythgoe (the producer) recently told TV Line in a video interview that they are seriously considering changing the voting procedure, possibly limiting one vote per phone OR allowing America to pick the Bottom Three and the judges will select who goes home from those three.

I hope they go with the former approach since the latter would take the power away from America and would allow the judges to eliminate someone like Haley earlier, rather than letting America save her as a worthy underdog week after week.

Overall the finale was awesome. Casey <3, Haley <3, hilarious Lady Gaga group trainwreck <3, hilarious female finalist Beyonce medley <3, hilarious male finalist Tom Jones medley <3, and of course LAUREN LOSING <3 <3 <3. My only regret is that Naima didn't get to sing "Single Ladies" for longer than she did... oh and that I'm out of cheesy reality shows to follow until Big Brother in a month or so. :(
