American Idol (Season 9) [merged]

So DialIdol was in fact correct this time.

Not that it matters. Won't be too long before no one cares about these two, especially Lee. He'll be dragged on long after he finds out no one cares by the Idol label, doing Ford commercials and such.

I don't see the top two of the worst season going very far, which is why the winner didn't matter.

Nothing for any of the top 24, 12, 10, 5, or 2 to be proud of.

What a hot fucking mess!! Lord. Three jackoffs in a row? Come on America!

Anyway...loved some of the performances. Carrie, Christina (love that song) and Janet. And it was nice to see all the Idols together (Where was David?).

OMG! What the hell just happened? I can't believe what I just witnessed! Week after week of watching this show, how can it end like this? I mean c'mon. . . . they're all dead? And where are all the answers to all the questions???

Um. . . oops. All the rage generated from these finales in the same week are blending into one. My bad. Carry on.!oops!

Might as well be. American Idol is dead to me. Two fuckin' years in a row they pulled this BS, I'm done.

Congrats to Lee.

I'm glad this boring season is over. LoL @ "this is a girl's season."

That's all.

Crystal lost because everyone thought she was going to win the whole season and didn't feel like they needed to vote for her while all the Lee fans felt they needed to vote extra hard since he did bad last night. If it were last week where Lee did way better than Crystal and Crystal didn't do very good, she probably would've won. The same thing happened last year with the producers overpimping Adam so everyone thought he was already going to win. This year they pushed hard for a girl saying all the girls were better than the guys and then all the girls went home first and Lee beat Crystal. This season was horrible but I do think Lee and Crystal deserved to be final 2. They were the best guy and girl in the top 12.

They were all saying that all the female winners did good and all the male ones didn't. They know having 3 male winners in a row (almost 5 male winners if Blake beat Jordin) and the past 2 seasons having 2 males in the finale wouldn't look good on their show and they want future female contestants believing they have a chance at winning.

I disagree with the producers wanting Lee to win. I thought "Everybody hurts" was a horrible song for him and "Black Velvet" was the perfect song for Crystal. No one can make "Everybody hurts" less boring than it already is and when I heard Crystal was going to sing that song I knew it was right for her. As for the winning singles, I think both of them got to pick from a list. Back in season 7, both Davids got to pick from a list of songs which one they wanted as a winning single. The show's fans don't flip over 1 week of performances. Most of them pick an early favorite and stay loyal to them the whole way through. Lee won because he needed votes and Crystal lost because people thought she didn't need votes.

This show makes so much money but they've gotten even more cheap and can't even get an original song for the winner's first single. "Beautiful Day" has already been a hit and everyone's already heard it a million times, they're not going to want to hear it again and it's not going to do better than the original. Dumb producers.

I don't think the original's were selling that well. A cover might get more airplay and sell better.

^ Hmmm, I don't think so. Further evidence this show has jumped the shark...then again no one worthwhile has come out of this show since season four. Everyone after that has been obscure. Fuck, it would have been better if Tim Urban beat out Lee...

Riiiiiiiiight. . .

PS. I guess you're a pretty good judge.

Lee certainly isn't the worst winner of all time (that honor still belongs to Taylor Hicks) -- he's not untalented, and he seems like a nice guy -- but considering who he beat, his win is as disappointing to me as Jordin winning in the Season of Melinda.

it was nice seeing all the winners(minus David Cook) and all of the cast of "I Was an American Idol Finalist" on stage together

and even though I HATED Janet's new hair....she was amazing!

and Crystal and Alanis' performance was awkward....way to much walking....LOL

Kris Allen looked absolutely adorable as usually

Yep,seeing Paula Abdul back and the Idol All-Stars on stage saluting Simon Cowell was the definitive highlight for me.Janet was never a vocal powerhouse but she gave a very good performance....I'm with you on not liking the hair so much though.Too many pop and rock geezers,c'mon now....Alice Cooper?Hall and Oates?Michael McDonald?Joe Cocker? The judges talk about contestants needing to sound current and fresh, and not old fashioned and irrelevant yet the bulk of the guests have long past their freshness expiration code date?

Alanis was okay, think Crystal was blowing her away on "Ya Oughta Know" and maybe it was kind of awkward at least for her.

Always love Carrie Underwood's performances, and she was really good tonight.Kris Allen was indeed hot, even got excited seeing seasons past hotties like Chris Richardson and Ace Young in the group of Idol All Stars as well.

Still, not as much into the show as past years.Nothing against Lee,who isn't bad,and who really did well knocking out Casey James last week by actually bothering to try to get to the Finals but he paled next to Crystal last night, and it wasn't even defensibly close. There are a lot of complaints against the quality of the competition this year but EVERY year there are rip jobs over how many lousy contestants made it through.I do think though last year you had an Alison Iraheta who was coming on strong in the late stages of the competition, along with touted favorite Adam Lambert and eventual winner Kris Allen.Kept things interesting at the end,and this year there was no such dark horse as Casey bombed big time and Michael Lynche's abrasive, over the top personality was such a turnoff for many viewers, certainly well represented here.Though I stand on belief vocal quality wise,he deserved as much buzz as any of the others as a potential winner...(my own personal favorite was Crystal, btw)if one comes off as insufferable like Mike did,he was going to rate negatively and not get as far as the Finals.

So no Simon and a fan base bored with Idol as Simon was this past year spells potential real trouble for Idol. They've got to reinvent themselves in a fresher and more appealing way,get the best contestants, pare the judges back down to three and really score with the Simon replacement or the slow deterioration of Idol's standing will become a fast fade as Simon's new show starts to get the publicity and momentum.

Just think how much better/more entertaining this season would have been if the Top 3 had been (in descending order) Crystal, Didi and Siobhan, with Crystal ultimately winning.

Such a waste of a season.

God I couldn't agree with you more!

Season 8 was the pinnacle of American Idol for me (and I'm unlikely to get anything close to it again). Not only were Kris Allen and Adam Lambert both excellent performers who routinely made the show exciting by reinterpreting songs and giving us lovely performances, so much so that you wanted to tune in week after week to see what they would so, but they also BOTH made it into the finale. That year also featured everything you need for a thrilling season, replete with talented also-rans (Alison Iraheta and Matt Giraud), lovable WTFs (Scott, Lil, Megan Joy) and a truly worthy, loathsome villain (Danny Gokey) who you actually feared would make it into the finale -- while taking out some of your favorites along the way (OK Alison) -- until he was finally, gloriously, defeated by Adam and Kris.

In fact, when Kris Allen came out to perform tonight -- and yes, looking all shades of hot -- I was thinking, "Can't we just scrap this season and crown him again?" Kris, Adam and Alison were better than EVERYONE this season except for Crystal.

Lee who? Yeah it's been 4 hours since he was crowned and I already don't care.
